Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I contacted you when my brother first 1yr ago several times. I know your busy but since then I got a tatoo and always support lymphoma and leukemia fund raisers and try to go on for my family. My brother just committec suicide shot himself in head he had chronic pain had car accident years ago and on august 28th he was rear ended in a second car accident im struggling the day was the day my other brother committed suicide thirty years ago my brothet knew how painful this was for us and i really never thought he would do it I was close to him helping him and I was the last person he text before he did it but it went to my twin brother by accident I am heart broken and to have two brothers do it both my parents are gone as well

Hi my name is becca dobbins, im 28 yrs old and I just lost my 28 yr old husband. Ever since I saw your show I’ve believed you but I’ve never really lost any one close to me until 2 wks ago. My husband was airlifted to Uab hospital and stayed there 2 1/2 wks before he passed. When he left to go I never imagined that would be the last time i would physically be able to be with him. The 2 1/2 wks from the time he got there he was fully sedated. I know he wants to tell me and our three kids things and I want to know he knows my heart will forever be his no matter what goes on the rest of my life. I believe that I am sensitive to spirits and I have seen two apparitions, orbs, somewhat transparent, one brightly lighted orb outside and a face in an orb inside. I have seen lights flickering, black shadows, heard footsteps, pounding on the wall and wooden floor. Things have fallen off counters and tables. Pictures have fallen off walls one was a picture of a relative and the other was a religious picture.
I have never tried to communicate to these spirits or apparitions while going through these experiences. They always happen when no one else is around. My grandson witnessed two of them with me.

Theresa I need your help. All my life I have had spirits around me. I see blacks shadows, heard someone call out my mane. I have seem bright lights in the house I grew up in. I have had something touch me. When I was little all this would frighten me when I would feel these things. I can feel when things are going to happen. I have had love ones who have passed away come to me. I had my father-in-law come to me to tell his son things. I can not see them but I can hear them and feel them there. I know that my husband used to think I was nuts. But now he knows something is there. I can tell when things are happen to people in my family. I feel there pain. I just wished I knew someone I could talk to . Someone who could help me understand all of this. I know my family thinks I am nuts. But I know how I feel. There are so many spirits in my moms house , but I am the only one who feels them. I need to know how to deal with this.

My sister-in-law went to your reading in Minnesota. At the end you mentioned a murder-suicide, and stopped almost in front of her. You did not say much because she was too afraid to come forth and talk to you. Do you keep notes of these meetings because, I would like to know if that person was male or female. I have always wanted to have a personal reading but because of the violence in my past I have been afraid to. I feel that if good can come forth so can those who have tried to hurt you.
