NFL Network presents new documentary series The Timeline, chronicling important moments and milestones in NFL history. The first episode, “Favre Returns,” begins after the Packers at Lions Thursday Night Football game Dec. 3 and takes a behind-the-scenes look at Brett Favre’s induction into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in July.

“America’s Game and the Iran Hostage Crisis”
NFL Network, following Redskins vs. Eagles game
George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures (Argo) produced this episode of NFL Network’s The Timeline, which premieres following the Washington Redskins vs. Philadelphia Eagles game. “America’s Game and the Iran Hostage Crisis” looks at how an audiocassette recording of Super Bowl XIV was smuggled into the American embassy in Iran, where 52 U.S. diplomats and citizens were held hostage for 444 days. The hostages’ release in January 1981 was celebrated at Super Bowl XV in New Orleans.
