By RabbitEars Man, I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since the original, primetime version of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, hosted by Regis Philbin, aired. (And 10 years later it still bothers me that they don’t end the title with a question mark.) Although a version of the show has continued in syndication with host Meredith Vieira, it doesn’t have quite the same panache without Regis. But that is changing this summer. She tells the tribe, “Let’s just try to make these next couple of days congenial,” which apparently involves her having many painful conversations with everyone as she explains why she made the “bad decision” to vote against Coach. Paula did not work with them on lip syncing. Ryan first pulls out Lil Rounds & brings her to the middle of the stage. So it’s Disco Night on American Idol and the battle is on! Not between the contestants, but between the producers and the clock. We get no context as to how Idol defines disco. Was it time frame? Artists? Instrumentation? We’ll never know; we can only suppose a guess.
