20th Century Fox Television announced today that the upcoming FOX event series 24 Live Another Day — the follow-up to the hit action series that is coming in
Summer Spring 2014 — will be filming in London, making it the first 24 production to film abroad since the 2008 telefilm 24: Redemption.
“24 has always had such a global sensibility,” said star Kiefer Sutherland, who is reprising his role as Jack Bauer and who also serves as an executive producer on the event series. “But to be able to tell this intense 24-style story with the beauty of Europe’s history and architecture as the backdrop is going to be fascinating. Hopefully, by the time you’re finished watching an episode, you’ll feel like you’ve been there … on the edge of your seat.”
Co-showrunner and executive producer Evan Katz added, “We wanted the show’s return to be an event, and part of that was putting Jack in a very different context. Four years ago, we left Jack a fugitive from justice and we’re going to pick him up four years later in London.”
According to co-showrunner and executive producer Manny Coto, “Jack is soon back on the run and it takes us into the streets of London and in places that break new ground for the show. We’ve shot in New York, Washington, Los Angeles and Cape Town — but now we’re in London and Jack’s loose on the streets of Europe, hunted by and hunting bad guys.”
As previously announced, 24 Live Another Day will also bring back 24 fan favorite Mary Lynn Rajskub as Chloe O’Brian when the 12-episode series (FOX is calling it a “tent-pole event series”) debuts next
UPDATE 10/4/13: Kim Raver and William Devane will also be reprising their roles from the 24 series in 24: Live Another Day, it was announced today. Raver and Devane both joined the series in Season 4 (2005), with Devane playing Secretary of Defense James Heller, and the father to Raver’s character, Audrey Raines, who fell in love with Jack Bauer. They were both last seen in the final scenes of Season 6, when Jack said goodbye to a catatonic Audrey.
