She’s the “queen” of Christian fiction, according to Time magazine, and now novelist Karen Kingsbury (pictured) has a deal with Hallmark Channel to have two of her popular books developed into original movies, the network announced today.

The Bridge, based on Kingsbury’s 2012 novel, is scheduled for a Holiday 2015 premiere on Hallmark Channel. According to a release,”the captivating romance follows Molly Allen, a woman who left her heart in Franklin, Tennessee with the man she walked away from in college. When Molly finds out The Bridge, a beloved bookstore back in Franklin, is in jeopardy along with the bookstore’s owner, she immediately returns to help, only to come face to face with her old flame, Ryan, again—along with a river of buried emotion. Molly agrees to do anything she can to help and as she and Ryan join forces to save The Bridge, their special bond reignites. Little does Molly know she is about to discover a long-held secret as she and Ryan rekindle the kind of love that can overcome all obstacles.”

The second Karen Kingsbury film in development is A Time to Dance, from Kingsbury’s 2001 book. Again from the release, the film “follows the bittersweet story of John and Abby. When their perfect marriage starts to fall apart, they make the sad decision to separate, but when they gather their children to tell them the news, their daughter interrupts with a surprise announcement of her own: she’s getting married! Determined not to ruin their daughter’s season of happiness, Abby and John secretly put their plans on hold. Despite their best efforts to keep their distance, the wedding plans bring them back together and help them to remember why they fell in love in what feels like a lifetime ago.”

No time frame is available yet for the premiere of A Time to Dance.

Karen Kingsbury said of the deal, in the release: “Hallmark is a trusted name in TV and with my millions of readers. I am beyond thrilled to begin this partnership. My readers will count down the days till the first of these two future classic movies!”

  1. Dear Hallmark, Am very disappointed that you did not give a date or time to show part II of ‘The Bridge’.
All I saw was to be continued, 2016????? what kind of deal is that? Why couldn’t you show the whole thing in one night?
Suppose one couldn’t see Part II on another night? Now I’m trying very hard to find some info on your web site, to no avail.
Please , am anxiously waiting for the ending. Before seeing the movie, I was thinking of writing to Hallmark to say how happy
we were that you had decent movies without sex, cursing, and violence. But I don’t want to watch movies that aren’t complete.

  2. Is Karen Kingsbury’s The Bridge going to be shown again on TV for those who missed it. Thanks

  3. RE: Karen Kingsbury’s “The Bridge” being in two parts w/0 being designated that way:
I would rather you throw me the finger. Clearly you have no appreciation of my time. You are like ten year olds with a treehouse. Tee hee hee. This is sick, sick marketing. The f__king terrorist have’nt wiped their backside with me like this. If you were on fire on the town square I would roast marshmallows. You clearly have no respect for your audience. I wish I could spit in your faces. Your disrespect for me is blatant. Go to hell.

  4. What a dirty trick do play to viewers at Christmas time. No warning that the episode was Part 1 and leaving viewers hanging for a year. I am so mad Ii’m not sure I will waste my time on any other Countdown to Christmas as those movies may also be part 1 with no warning that the 2 part is in the distant future. You deserve losing your audience and getting a low rating. This is an unforgivable act to do to viewers during the giving spirit of Christmas!! How dare you be solow and stupid as not to warn viewers of the Part 1 now and Part two next Christmas. shame on you!!

    • When I ordered direct tv I told them all I wanted was Hallmark chanels both of them. CBN and Arkansas football. That was the chanels I wanted I can not believe you would think we wouldn’t be ready for both parts again next year. I can not tolerate sequels. I can not believe you didn’t believe in us

  5. Wish part II was this year but it will soooo be worth the wait! Love, love, LOVE the casting! Wyatt, Ted, Faith, Kate. Everyone is perfect! Karen, your books are fantastic. Hallmark + your books is just pure genius! I absolutely agree with Maureen on a Baxter series!!

  6. “To be continued” ……. No way! Can not wait. Great casting. Love. Love. Love The Bridge

  7. Love it!! Just watched tonight with my 12 year old daughter. Thank you Karen and Hallmark.

  8. Watched “The Bridge” with my 89 year old Mom last night. Cheap trick Hallmark, not one mention it was only Part 1, and the conclusion will be telecast Christmas A YEAR FROM NOW. Nice way to ruin a wonderful tradition we had. Done with you.

  9. I love the movie but please I don’t know if l’m going to be alive in 2016 to watch the conclusion not only that but how many other people are going miss out on this ? I think lifetime might be the way to go at least they finish their movies in the same year. It’s too bad because I love watching Hallmark around the holidays and I know lots of other people must too . But it’s not fair that you keep the second half of the movie away from the viewers just so you think you might catch us next year that’s reason for me not to watch. I’ll read the book!!!!

  10. I love her books can’t wait for the movies! I loved the redemption series and 9/11 series I would love to see those come to film as well!!!!!

  11. I recently finished “The Bridge”, as always the book was amazing. I have read many of Karen’s books and they always uplift me. A Time to Dance was instrumental in rededicating my life to God.
In the series I am now reading “Take One thru Four they are preparing to produce a film on the book.”Unlocked”. I hope this book will actually be produced in film soon.

  12. Can you please let me know when your movies will be aired on Hallmark. I live in New Hampshire and have Comcast. Blessing to you. Your books have blessed me so much.

  13. Can you please let me know when your movies will be aired on Hallmark. I live in New Hampshire and have Comcast. Blessing to you. Your nooks have blessed me so much.

  14. When does the movie “The Bridge” air? I keep seeing across the screen Tuesday night. Tonight?

  15. I am so excited about this news. I just hope you keep an eye and ear on the re-write and don’t let them change even a comma. Some of the books made into movies have been changed so you cannot even recognize the books they came from.

  16. I’m so excited to see your movies! Hallmark & Karen Kingsbury – a perfect match! Can I look forward to The Baxters as a regular TV series? I certainly hope so! Congratulations to both Karen & Hallmark for a wonderful & long term relationship.

  17. So glad to see your books will be on hallmark channel. I just finished reading sunrise series. I have a great grandson Joshua who had ancephaly. He would be 9 years old. And I grieved all over again thanks for sharing real life situations in a christian perspective. I listen to books from the Braille society because of my poor eye sight. Blessings to you.
