This latest in Nat Geo’s franchise of Earth Day natural history series from executive producer James Cameron (following Secrets of the Whales and Secrets of the Elephants) uncovers the lives of one of the most alien-like animals on the planet: the octopus. The three-part series (all episodes air tonight), narrated by Paul Rudd, shows how these eight-armed creatures can shapeshift, and reveals how intelligent and social they are through incredible footage, some of which shows octopus behavior never before captured on film.

Turner Classic Movies continues its monthlong Monday salute to the centennial of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the iconic Hollywood studio that was founded on April 17, 1924. Today’s 24-hour lineup of MGM favorites features titles from the late 1950s through the ’60s and into the ’70s, a time of great change when the old studio system that MGM helped pioneer was on its way out and the “New Hollywood” was dawning. Turner Classic Movies’ monthlong Wednesday salute to legendary actor Marlon Brando concludes with four films. Leading things off is Apocalypse Now Redux, an extended version of Francis Ford Coppola’s 1979 Vietnam War epic that was released in 2001 (it contains 49 minutes of material added to the theatrical release). Brando does not show up until the end of the film, but his memorable character, Col. Walter Kurtz, casts a shadow over everything leading to that. After that, the lineup goes way back to 1950 with Brando’s first feature film: The Men, a drama in which he plays a paralyzed war veteran who uses a wheelchair. Next is The Young Lions (1958), a drama that follows the lives of three men — a German (played by Brando) and two Americans (Montgomery Clift and Dean Martin) — during World War II. Finally, Brando stars as a man sent to overthrow a Portuguese colony in the Caribbean during the 19th century in the historical war drama Burn! (1969).

For Colorado caterer Goldy Berry (Nikki DeLoach), accepting a catering job at a castle is a dream come true. The royal icing on the plum cake is that it’s a themed fundraiser hosted by the Elk Park Fencing Club, which is her daughter’s latest obsession. Just as the town gathers, a murder takes place during the feast and the estate’s gate is slammed shut. Together Goldy and Detective Tom (Andrew Walker) must figure out the truth before there are more victims.
