Ray (2004)
Music biopics frequently follow a well-traveled arc: Musician of humble origins gets discovered, bringing on the problem trappings of fame and fortune, and a descent into a maelstrom of drug and drink. Ray doesn’t stray far from the script, but Jamie Foxx’s Academy Award-winning performance as the late Ray Charles make this a standout effort. FX, May 9, 8pm

The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)
Many have tried, but Errol Flynn is the definitive outlaw of Sherwood and Olivia de Havilland, while a bit soft by modern standards, is a beautiful Marian. Created at a time when heroes were bigger than life, it serves as a testament to Hollywood’s great golden age. Fans of Flynn may also want to catch Captain Blood, airing later in the evening. TCM, May 9, 6:15pm for Robin Hood, 10:30 for Captain Blood

Carlito’s Way (1993)
To paraphrase from another Al Pacino film, “Just when you think you’re out, they pull you back in …” So it goes in this tale of a former heroin trafficker who tries to stay straight. But buying into a nightclub might not have been the best career change, and before long, his difficult past begins closing in on him once again. One of director Brian De Palma’s better efforts. AMC, May 10, 7pm

My Cousin Vinny (1992)
Two “yutes” are arrested in a case of mistaken identity and will face the electric chair unless Brooklyn lawyer Vinny (Joe Pesci), one of the boys’ cousins, can prove them innocent. An absolutely hysterical comedy! Marisa Tomei won an Oscar for playing Vinny’s girlfriend, Mona Lisa Vito. TBS, May 10, 10pm

Caddyshack (1980)
Still funny after nearly three decades, Caddyshack remains the ultimate sendup of the golfer’s world. With memorable scenes galore and rich performances from Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, Bill Murray and Ted Knight, it’s a well-above-par staple of American cinematic comedy. GOLF CHANNEL, May 12, 8:30pm

The Da Vinci Code (2006)
In a taut murder mystery based on Dan Brown’s best-selling novel, Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou race across Europe to solve a labyrinthine riddle before a murderous monk — scion of a secret order of the Catholic Church — catches up with them. Be forewarned: Though a work of fiction, this is the movie that continues to have the church up in arms. TNT, May 14, 8pm
