“Dance Moms: Miami” coming soon says Lifetime

Watch your Pilates-toned backs, Bravo Housewives! Looks like Lifetime has found a lady-centric reality franchise of its own in the Dance Moms.

With the popularity of the original Pittsburgh-based Dance Moms reality spectacle (now airing its second season Tuesday nights at 9) at a fevered pitch, Lifetime has announced it will air six hour-long episodes of Dance Moms: Miami, set at the sultry south Florida city’s Stars Dance Studio. The school’s owners, renowned contemporary dance teacher Victor Smalley — an instructor on  Season 6 of So You Think You Can Dance — and choreographer Angel Armas train a diverse group of talented male and female dancers intent on becoming stars in the competitive dance and entertainment world.

“Dance Moms quickly became a stand-out hit for Lifetime last year that we knew would be perfect to build out and franchise into other series,” said Nancy Dubuc, President and General Manager of Lifetime Networks. “Dance Moms: Miami captures the same energy, passion and conflict between an equally intriguing cast of instructors, amazing dancers and moms who are 100% dedicated to become the best at what they do.”

No word on a premiere date or whether the stars of Stars will cross paths with Abby Lee Miller (pictured above) and her Abby Lee Dance Studio hoofers and dance moms on the competitive dance circuit. But we really, really hope they do.
