OWN’s “Why Not? With Shania Twain” closes with a duet, wedding and single

by Karl J. Paloucek It’s debatable whether the folks at OWN really intended a pun when they said that this Sunday’s episode of Why Not? With Shania Twain, titled “Endless Love,” ends with a bang — seeing as how it features her marrying her new beau, Fred — but there it is. A wedding is a big enough finale, but in addition to tying the knot after ending her tour, the episode highlights Lionel Ritchie‘s offer to record a song, “Endless Love,” with Twain for his upcoming duets album. TCA: Oprah Introduces OWN To Critics

(Pasadena, Calif.) The press tour ballroom was close to a record silence just before Oprah Winfrey took the stage at the TCA Winter Press Tour. It was, of course, the most anticipated event of the day. Oprah whisked on stage in a variety of purples, made herself comfy in a white plush chair and then, somewhat nervously, turned herself over to the critics. “It’s like being thrown to the wolves,” Oprah joked. Her nerves were short-lived, for she quickly commanded the room as she detailed her vision for OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, her network that was launched on Jan. 1, […]

A Network Of O’s OWN

By RabbitEars It’s been talked about for a while, but at the Discovery advertising upfront presentation today more details came to light about the new Oprah Winfrey Network — OWN (a pretty symbolic acronym relating to this one-woman entertainment empire with self-promotional holdings in most media) — set to launch in early 2010 and replacing what is currently Discovery Health Channel. Man, I’m going to miss shows with titles like I Made Myself Pregnant or something of that nature.
