MTV offered a peek at what the nominees, presenters and performers (like P!nk, pictured above) will be receiving in the nifty little gift bags they’ll be getting at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, airing Sept. 6 at 8pm ET/PT. As a part of the celebrity gifting, MTV will donate to the non-profit organization Lifebeat, Music Fights HIV/AIDS, which is this year’s official charity recipient. One fan will have the opportunity to receive some of the items from the VMA celebrity gift bag by following @MTVNews and red-carpet correspondents (@RealSway, @PositivNegativ, @ChristinaMTV, @JambaJim) on Twitter for clues, then tuning in […]

Where to watch the 2012 Democratic National Convention

With the Republican National Convention winding down, it’s the Democrats’ turn to gather, with the Democratic National Convention taking place in Charlotte Sept. 4-6. There they are expected to formally nominate President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden for a second term as President and Vice President of the United States. While there may be less drama than what transpired at the RNC (which had the threat of a hurricane, outbursts from Ron Paul supporters, etc.) you just never can tell what may happen. Several news outlets will be on hand to cover what does take place, and here’s […]

2012 MTV Movie Awards add power to the popcorn

The 2012 MTV Movie Awards (MTV, June 3) feature some new categories with a few others retired. You’ve probably noticed by now that the MTV Movie Awards aren’t exactly the most respected accolades in all of cinema (see photo). The gala has devolved into an annual tween girls’ fete for all things Twilight and a venue for Hollywood stars to sell their summer movies to an impressionable audience with disposable income. Thinking maybe it’s time to add a little more legitimacy to the quirky categories and comedy antics, MTV is polishing up this year’s awards show at the Gibson Amphitheatre […]

Taylor Swift gets “Punk’d” by Justin Bieber on MTV

Based on Taylor Swift’s history of making people who wronged her the focus of her songs, it’s probably safe to assume she is already working on her next hit single about Justin Bieber. And for the reasoning behind that theory, all you have to do is tune into the season premiere of the revamped Punk’d on MTV tonight at 10pm ET. Much to the joy of television viewers across the country, the network decided to bring back its wildly popular show that revolves around celebrities being victimized by the most elaborate of pranks. The previous installment was the brainchild of […]

Pants? I just want my hour back

I’m getting too old for this $#!%. Seriously, it must be my advancing, practically decrepit age of 29, when profanity and raunchy behavior from attractive, scantily-clad twenty-somethings don’t do it for me. Right? That, or MTV’s new series I Just Want My Pants Back (Thursdays, 11 p.m. ET) and I are on entirely different parts of the television spectrum. I want to watch a good show and Pants doesn’t want to be it. Pants tries too hard to be shocking, without a thought to being clever. Cheap ploys are jammed into one flimsy premise. Hipsters call out other hipsters for […]
