USA Network’s “Psych” ending after Season 8; series finale on March 26

USA Network made official today what many Psych fans had dreaded — the network announced that the fan-favorite series’ current Season 8 will be the last for the show. The series finale of Psych will air on USA March 26 at 9pm ET, followed by a one-hour, live, interactive “Psych After Pshow,” featuring a Q&A with the entire cast and creator Steve Franks. The moderated discussion, in which the cast reflects on the series, is hosted by Kevin Pereira (Attack of the Show) and will take place in front of a studio audience in Los Angeles. “Psych has made an […]

Steve Franks on Psych Season 8

The fan-favorite mystery/comedy series Psych is USA Network’s longest-running series, and it continues that run when Psych Season 8 premieres Jan. 8 at 9pm ET/PT. When I spoke with Psych creator/writer/director/executive producer Steve Franks last month about the special Psych: The Musical, he also talked a little bit about Psych Season 8. How many episodes make up Psych Season 8? Can you talk about some of the episodes? Steve Franks: There are only 10 episodes, but some of my favorite stuff that we’ve ever done. … The first one that I did was born out of something I couldn’t do for […]

Steve Franks talks “Psych The Musical”

Given how often it has spoofed various film genres and conventions, it makes perfect sense that the hit USA Network mystery-comedy series Psych would take on musicals. And the cast and crew — including writer-director Steve Franks, who spoke to me about the project — accomplish this in a terrifically entertaining way with the special two-hour episode Psych The Musical. A stand-alone special (Season 8 of Psych will start up Jan. 8), Psych: The Musical retains the fun of the regular series, incorporating humor and mystery, and adding in enjoyable music. Explaining the genesis of the idea for Psych The […]

Burn Notice series finale: How will it end?

Burn Notice series finale: How will it end? That’s the million-dollar question millions of loyal fans are dying to find out when they tune in to USA Network tonight for “Reckoning,” the Burn Notice series finale episode. And speaking of dying, we are told that a major cast member will not make it through tonight’s episode (9pm ET). Surely, it can’t be Michael Westen, the burned CIA spy brilliantly played by Jeffrey Donovan, right? For seven glorious and action-paced seasons, viewers have grown attached to Michael and his quest to find out who burned him in the 2007 series pilot. If […]

“Psych”: USA orders two additional Season 8 episodes and lets fans vote on a storyline

USA Network announced yesterday that due to the overwhelming popularity of its hit series Psych, it will be adding two more episodes to the show’s upcoming Season 8. Additionally, USA has opened up online voting to fans for the selection of a storyline to be featured in a Psych Season 8 episode. The results of the online voting will be announced when Psych returns to San Diego’s Comic-Con on July 18 (with the panel being moderated by Cary Elwes, who will guest-star again as master thief Despereaux in Psych Season 8). The Comic-Con presentation will also feature an advance screening […]

Burn Notice Season 7 premiere bittersweet for USA Network viewers

The Burn Notice Season 7 premiere on USA Network comes with great anticipation this week (the season begins June 6 at 9pm ET/PT on USA Network), but it’s also bittersweet for fans who aren’t ready for the series to conclude. USA Network announced that Burn Notice Season 7 will be the final season for the Emmy-nominated series and ratings juggernaut (but not before it becomes USA Network’s third series to cross the 100-episode milestone, which it will do with the June 13 episode, “Forget Me Not”). The rational part of being a TV viewer is understanding that all good things […]

“Burn Notice” returns to USA with two-hour fall premiere

It is fitting that Burn Notice has its own comic book version, because there is something wonderfully campy about both the dialogue and action scenes in the USA Network drama — which returns tonight in a two-hour fall premiere at 9pm ET. Anybody who watches Burn Notice for the plot is probably tuning in for the wrong reason. Sure, there are some outrageously fun storylines to give the show some structure, but they merely serve as stage for a ton of explosions and what could be the most underestimated cast on all of television. It all begins with Jeffrey Donovan, who, […]

“Burn Notice” returns to USA lineup tonight with a bang

Sometimes it takes being away from an old friend to make you realize how much you appreciate them, and that’s exactly how I feel about the show Burn Notice. So you can imagine my excitement that one of the most underrated shows on all of television is returning tonight to the USA Network lineup. Premiering tonight at 9pm ET, Burn Notice starts right where we left off at the end of last season. Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) is scouring Miami looking for Anson (Jere Burns), who is out to ruin his career and his personal life by blackmailing him. Fiona Glenanne […]

“Burn Notice” season premieres tonight on USA Network (kind of)

By Tom Comi Follow @ChannelGuide Since Michael Westen is such a great spy, perhaps his next assignment can entail figuring out why USA Network found the need to cut the latest season of his show Burn Notice in half. I couldn’t be happier that my favorite drama is returning tonight (10pm ET), but it’s technically not a premiere since we are still in season 5. That didn’t prevent the network from referring to its last episode in June as the “mid-season summer finale,” a secret code I’m still trying to decipher. Semantics and programming strategies aside, it’s a very good […]
