Aquarius recap: “Home Is Where You’re Happy”

The Aquarius episode “Home Is Where You’re Happy” (another episode named after a song off of Charles Manson’s debut studio album) really exemplified some of the things that are bothering me about this series. First and foremost, how it is trying to throw in a lot of storylines amid the overarching search for Emma (Emma Dumont) and Manson (Gethin Anthony). That might not be a problem in and of itself, but the show seems to be stumbling at weaving these storylines together seamlessly, and last night’s episode especially seemed like merely a series of vignettes, almost, strung together in a quasi-’60s era […]

Aquarius recap: “Never Say Never to Always”

Manson sings! We get to hear Charlie (Gethin Anthony) cut his demo tape in this episode (along with Emma, Katie and other young women on backup vocals), all made possible through the kind donation of Emma’s father, Ken’s (Brian F. O’Byrne) $2,000. Following last night’s two-hour premiere, all 13 episodes of the show are now available for binge-watching at NBC.com and other VOD platforms. “With Aquarius we have the opportunity to push some new boundaries to give our audience something no broadcast network has done before,” said NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt. “We are fully aware how audiences want to consume multiple episodes of new television series faster and at their own discretion, and we’re excited to offer our viewers […]

Interview: Grey Damon of NBC’s “Aquarius”

Although infamous cult leader Charles Manson initiates the events of the new historical fiction series Aquarius, he at times is almost relegated to the background in the midst of other cases and events, though you can always sense his lurking presence as the Summer of Love begins its descent into the darkness that ended the 1960s. “[Manson]’s sort of this symbol, more or less, of the change that was happening,” says costar Grey Damon, who plays young undercover cop Brian Shafe. Shafe is teamed with veteran homicide detective Sam Hodiak (David Duchovny, who also is an executive producer) to find […]
