American Horror Story: Hotel — who is new, who is back and who plays whom in Season 5

When Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk bring American Horror Story back for its fifth season — fittingly subtitled Hotel — look for the FX hit to boast another bold new look, but a feel that revisits the first season of the most-watched franchise in the network’s 21-year history. “True horror fans loved the first season because it really is a very psychological season and it plays with a lot of very familiar tropes,” Murphy explains. “The season we’re doing this year harkens back to the first season, which is much more rooted in honest, primal fears.” AHS — which has […]

What’s next for Pepper? Interview with American Horror Story’s Naomi Grossman

We love Pepper on American Horror Story. Naomi Grossman holds the distinguished honor of being the first character continuation in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story anthology series, portraying the gremlin-like Pepper in both Asylum and Freak Show. Pepper will be the focus of the upcoming 10th episode of AHS: Freak Show, “Orphans,” (airing Dec. 17) where we’ll get a better understanding on where she came from and how she got to Briarcliff Manor. “Ryan has hinted that Freak Show is Pepper’s origin story, and I think it’s fair to assume he means more than just stacking chairs and manicuring nails,” […]

7 Questions With...

American Horror Story star Sarah Paulson answers our 7 questions

Sarah Paulson has been pulling double duty in American Horror Story: Freak Show (Wednesdays on FX) playing conjoined twins Bette and Dot — two characters, Paulson tells us, that have proved to be her most challenging role to date. “What I’ve already got to do in the first three episodes, there’s just nowhere else I would have done any of it — any of it — ever!” Paulson tells us, early into shooting. “There are up to 22 people working on every single shot that I am in. It’s very, very labor intensive, both for me physically and for the […]

Interview: Two heads are better than one for Sarah Paulson in “American Horror Story: Freak Show”

Last season’s Supreme, Sarah Paulson, has double duty in his go-round of American Horror Story playing conjoined twins Bette and Dot — two characters, Paulson tells us, that have proved to be her most challenging role to date.  American Horror Story: Freak Show debuts on FX Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 10pm ET/PT. “What I’ve already got to do in the first three episodes, there’s just nowhere else I would have done any of it — any of it — ever!” Paulson tells us. “We all know that I don’t have two heads, so how we are achieving this is very […]

American Horror Story Coven season finale recap

In the American Horror Story Coven season finale, you’d expect things to be wrapped up with a nice little bow. It opens with a Stevie Nicks’ tune (“Seven Wonders,” to be exact, tying in with the episode title of “The Seven Wonders”) and everyone is preparing for the final tradition. Myrtle announces that instead of starting with the easiest of the Seven Wonders, they’re going to start with the most difficult, as she passes around some caviar. In the beginning it is all fun and games, until Madison’s bitch side rears its ugly head, and the result is ugly. She’s […]

American Horror Story Coven: Date, time, TV channel, preview and more!

If you had any doubt as to whether American Horror Story Coven would be as crazy as its predecessors, all questions should be answered when you learn that the first episode is called “Bitchery.” And the bitchery is on full display, with Kathy Bates playing a character that in the span of one cold opening probably already takes her rank among the most evil in TV history. Then of course there’s the snotty Hollywood starlet (Emma Roberts), the “human voodoo doll” (Gabourey Sidibe) and the girl who can literally sex someone to death (Taissa Farmiga). And Jessica Lange. The basic […]

“American Horror Story: Coven” releases another creepy teaser

The marketing geniuses at American Horror Story: Coven have released another enigmatic teaser for the FX series, which premieres Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 10pm ET/PT. Before we had a bunch of women’s bodies suspended (or hanged?) as a creepy rendition of “House of the Rising Sun” kicked in. It was only 17 seconds, but quite memorable. Here, there is some definite Salem Witch Trial imagery on display, what with the burning and the stakes and all. It’s slightly longer, at 21 seconds, but no more informative. Still no sign of Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Taissa Farmiga, […]

“American Horror Story: Coven” teaser trailer gets witchy … or does it?

Another fall TV season, another batch of creepy abstract teasers for American Horror Story. This initial 17-second clip for American Horror Story: Coven reveals nothing at all about the storyline, which we know is going to be centered around witches in New Orleans. The opening line of “House of the Rising Sun” — the one about there being a house in New Orleans — is the only reference to the setting. Otherwise all we see is a white room where a small white cat walks toward the camera before we pan to a much more arresting visual, seven women — […]

“American Horror Story” officially has a problem with endings

WARNING: MASSIVE SPOILER ALERTS!!!! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, what the hell’s wrong with you, American Horror Story? Tonight’s Season 2 finale, “Madness Ends,” which airs at 10pm on FX, has me feeling some familiar frustrations. Last season I willfully and gladly went along with the big ball of crazy that befell the Harmon family, not caring that the rules were established, then seemingly broken at will. Just what the heck ghosts were capable of, anyway? I thought they couldn’t leave the house, but then I see one riding in the back of a squad car? […]
