AFI 100 — The Complete List

In June’s Channel Guide we told you about the 10th anniversary edition of AFI’s “100 Years … 100 Movies.” We mentioned a few of the films that were nominated to be on this list of the greatest of all time, and here is the complete final list for you to argue about or agree with! Indicated after each title is how it fared compared with its position on the 1997 list (plus sign for up on the list, minus sign for down, 0 for same position). Citizen Kane 0 The Godfather +1 Casablanca -1 Raging Bull +20 Singin’ In The […]

Clocking In On The Set Of “General Hospital: Night Shift”

Nestled just below the Hollywood Hills on a largely residential street, ABC Studios is easy to miss. Up past the gate, the tree-lined parking lot is unassuming enough — until you spot the rows of trailers that usually house the actors of Grey’s Anatomy, which also films here. The Seattle Gracers are done for the season, though, and I’m here to check out SOAPnet‘s General Hospital: Night Shift, which premieres in prime time July 12. The 13-episode, hourlong show features a setup that’s new to both SOAPnet and the daytime genre as a whole. Taking the action out of a […]

We Have A Blast On The Set Of Spike’s “The Kill Point”

Tucked away in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood is a large warehouse, and inside is a branch of Three Rivers Trust bank. It looks like the interior of any corner bank branch, with flyers advertising great mortgage rates and art on the walls depicting Pittsburgh’s steel-mill heritage. It would be a pleasant place to do business, if it weren’t for all the gunfire and bullet holes in the windows. It’s mid April, and dozens of cast and crewmembers are in Pittsburgh shooting The Kill Point, an eight-episode action/drama series premiering July 22 on Spike. John Leguizamo stars as the leader of a […]

Miami-based chef Ingrid Hoffmann brings “Delicioso” to Food Network

Why did you decide to take on another series? Ingrid Hoffmann: How could you say no to Food Network? That was my dream! It was not something that I was pursuing because I was busy building and bettering the Latin show, but when it knocked on the door, it was a dream come true, so I’m more than happy. You know, when you do what you love, it’s not work. When did you discover that you had a talent for cooking? I started cooking very early on, when I was so little that I couldn’t even reach the stove. My […]

8 Questions With … Marisa Coughlan

Minnesota native Marisa Coughlan takes time out from flipping her house to fill us in on the quirky new series Side Order of Life, premiering July 15 on Lifetime. 1. What’s the strangest fan encounter you’ve ever had? Marisa Coughlan: Probably recently, with this house flipping thing. I literally have never looked scarier or felt scarier than in the last month. Every time I go out the door I’m covered in grime and headed to Home Depot, and it’s always at those moments when I’m recognized. 2. You’re in front of a magazine rack that has everything. What do you […]

Shark Week 2007

Since its premiere in 1988 as Discovery Channel‘s first weeklong event, Shark Week has become something of a summertime tradition for viewers, and cable’s longest-running event. Whether the series has done harm or good to the shark’s reputation during this time may depend upon what particular audience members take away from it — do they learn and understand more about sharks, or just get a scary thrill from stories about shark attacks? It may be a combination of both, but after nearly 20 years, perhaps some lessons have sunk in that these fascinating creatures aren’t the monsters depicted in the […]

No Longer A Lost Boy, Corey Feldman Finds Humor In Being Himself

With apologies to Corey “I wear my sunglasses at night” Hart, only two Coreys really mattered in the ’80s: Corey Feldman and Corey Haim. Beginning in 1987, having already established some serious child-actor credentials independently of one another in films such as Lucas, Stand by Me and The Goonies, the Haimster and Feldog forged a union that generated the teen flicks The Lost Boys, License to Drive and Dream a Little Dream, and rendered their last names unnecessary. There was a time when the Coreys were everywhere. That time has passed. Now, an A&E comedy series called The Two Coreys, […]
