Former Girl Next Door Holly Madison Jumps Into Reality — Again

It’s hardly a secret that Hugh Hefner likes his women blonde, busty and — unfortunately for former serious girlfriend Holly Madison — a couple of years beyond jailbait. So it came to pass that the then 29-year-old Madison, star of the long running reality series The Girls Next Door, left the Playboy Mansion, her dream of becoming the next Mrs. Hef, and her employment as an intern with Playboy Magazine and headed east to Las Vegas to headline the sexy burlesque review Peepshow. Now she also stars in an E! reality series, Holly’s World, airing Sundays. It looks at her […]

New Live-Action Series Expands Cartoon Network’s Universe

It may not seem natural to have live-action series on a channel called Cartoon Network, but the net has made that concept work. And Unnatural History, the channel’s newest live-action effort, seems like the most natural fit of them all. It plays out much like a cartoon, in fact, with plenty of high-flying action, quirky characters and mysteries along the lines of Scooby-Doo. That might have much to do with the fact that the series is created and written by Mike Werb, who wrote the similarly cartoon-flavored film The Mask. The actors are indeed real, and the star, Kevin G. […]

8 Questions With … Brooke Elliott

1. What has been your strangest fan encounter? Brooke Elliott: I was walking through Nordstrom at The Grove in L.A. and all of a sudden I heard this bloodcurdling scream. I stopped and some girl who had just walked by me was screaming [slips into a perfect Valley Girl accent], “Ohmigod, that’s Drop Dead Diva!” and telling everyone around her, “Drop Dead Diva! Drop Dead Diva!” I was like, “Shhhhhhh!” Then I kept walking because I didn’t know where she was going and I was a little frightened. 2. What’s the better story — the first time you were starstruck […]

Bert Kreischer’s Amazing Free Fall

I’ve never spoken to anyone suffering from a near-death experience before. But when I talked with Bert Kreischer, he was in Las Vegas recovering from the most harrowing event he’d filmed for his Travel Channel series Bert the Conqueror — a 108-story free fall off the top of the Stratosphere Hotel. The feat was the most daunting in a series that has the comedian visiting towns across the country, tackling some of the local extreme rides and sports and reporting on them. It is, Kreischer says, a way of revealing adventures that any family can do on a weekend. Though, […]

Louis C.K. Brings His Foulmouthed, Heartfelt Act To FX

Anyone familiar with Louis C.K.’s comedy won’t be surprised by his new show’s potty mouth. But there’s also the heart behind it that resonates with audiences and has made him one of the hottest comics around. As writer, director and editor for Louie — airing Tuesday beginning June on FX — C.K. is pouring all his talents into the series, which shows a fictionalized version of his life as a standup comic and newly single dad in New York. It’s not too far off-base to think of it as a much edgier Seinfeld, with standup bits intermingled into the offstage […]

Those Fabulous Beekman Boys!

They were living the good life in New York. With both a medical degree and an MBA, Dr. Brent Ridge worked at Mount Sinai Hospital and was the vice president of healthy living at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. His partner, Josh Kilmer-Purcell, worked in advertising and is a best-selling author. But they were willing to throw most of that life aside when, on a trip through upstate New York, they drove past the Beekman Mansion and noticed its for-sale sign. It was love at first sight. The frequently hilarious reality series The Fabulous Beekman Boys, airing Wednesdays beginning June 16 […]

How Terry Crews Learned To Love Being A TV Dad

After playing young Chris Rock’s father Julius for four seasons on Everybody Hates Chris and landing his own BET reality show, The Family Crews, featuring him, his wife Rebecca and their five kids, Terry Crews realized that father knows best. “For years I tried to get away from the whole ‘TV dad’ thing,” Crews says. “I was like, ‘I want to be an action star, I want to be this and that.’ The path that opens up in front of you is usually the one that you should take. After Everybody Hates Chris, everybody was like, ‘He’s a TV dad. […]
