G4 Is "420 Friendly"

Posted by Ryan There are going to be some high times on G4, as the network celebrates 420 on April 20 (4/20!) with a marathon of movies and shows involving the cannabis culture. (Here’s some background on 420.) Highlights include a special episode of Code Monkeys and the Season 2 premiere of The Block. I’m already getting the munchies. Disclaimer: Of course, we cannot emphasize enough that smoking marijuana is very, very bad. So stop it. 420 On G4 (4/20) (all times ET/PT) G4 Movies: Half Baked 1pm & 8pm — The hilarious adventure of three lovable party buds as […]

You Have Failed Me For The Last Time, George Lucas

Posted By RabbitEars Even though he will never let the embarrassingly bad 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special see the light of day, over the past decade George Lucas himself has seen fit to sell out his classic sci-fi/fantasy creation in some other, nearly-as-awful (but not even as campy) ways. The Star Wars merchandising galaxy has moved far, far away from mere Happy Meals and action figures into a whole other marketing universe. From Imperial stormtroopers appearing at NASCAR events, to Yoda pimping Diet Pepsi, to Chewbacca becoming spokes-Wookiee for Cingular Wireless — old-school fans have long said “no deal” to […]

“Sunset Tan” Rises Again

Posted by RabbitEars Summertime is around the corner, but if you don’t actually enjoy the sunshine yourself, you may appreciate instead basking in the rays of your TV screen as the incredibly popular reality series Sunset Tan comes back. Like persistent melanoma, the E! hit about a Hollywood tanning salon will return this summer for its second season, but today’s announcement did not specify when. What has been made clear, though, is that more of the fluffiness and superficiality will be on hand. Series favorites the Olly Girls (Molly and Holly), though sent packing in last season’s final episode, will […]

Bobby Knight, Bill Parcells And Tony La Russa On ESPN "Sunday Conversation," Followed By Apocalypse

Posted by Cubicle QB If this photo doesn’t frighten the bejesus out of you, then you may just have enough huevos to tune in to ESPN’s SportsCenter on Sunday at 10:30am and 11pm ET for the “Sunday Conversation” featuring three weird, crotchety old coaches who all happen to be buddies — Bobby Knight, Bill Parcells and Tony La Russa. The three will discuss a variety of topics including their friendships, coaching philosophies and how players have changed over the years — and occasionally yell obscenities at host Rece Davis, who we’re pretty sure cries at some point during the session. […]

Gunslinger Hangs It Up: Brett Favre Farewell Festival

Posted by Cubicle QB So, Brett Favre is retiring. Here in Wisconsin, there is surprise, sadness and perhaps a little relief that we finally have the answer to the “Is Brett Favre retiring?” thing we’ve been dealing with around this time for the past five or so years. I’m just a little disappointed that Favre retired before he could fulfill my 1993 prophecy that he would become “the next Don Majkowski.” Anyway, NFL Network is throwing Favre a 30-hour retirement party this week with Favre and Packers programs today through Saturday. Brett Favre Tribute on NFL Network All times Eastern. […]

Free Some Time For G4's "Duty Free TV" Block

Posted by Ryan On Feb. 4 at 9pm ET/PT, video game network G4 premieres “Duty Free TV,” a block of programming imported from Japan. Cult hit Ninja Warrior is joined by two new shows: Unbeatable Banzuke and Super Big Product Fun Show. I got a little preview of both new shows: Super Big Product Fun Show — Fans of Spike’s MXC will love this. It’s a Japanese Batsu-style “punishment game” show with hilarious English dialog dubbed over it. Hosted by “The Batsu Boys” Ashton and Gary, SBPFS puts product testers through some grueling and embarrassing challenges. The episode I screened […]

Super Bowl Classics On NFL Network

Good news from NFL Network today. They’ll be airing 10 classic Super Bowls in their entirety over the next 12 days. Five of these Super Bowls have never been reaired before, and a few of them will include their halftime shows. The broadcasts include the original network announcers and graphics, but alas, the original commercials won’t air with them (I could use some Bud Bowl action). NFL Network will also show the 2007 Week 17 Patriots-Giants game on Jan. 24 at 9pm ET and Feb. 1 at 9pm ET. Oh, you still don’t get NFL Network? Then it’s TS4U. Here […]

It’s New! And It Ain’t Reality! It’s Almost Time To “Break Bad.”

I am excited about Breaking Bad. Really excited. Like, people-are-picking-on-me excited. And I want you to promise me you will watch it. Why? Well, click on “online exclusives” and read all about it … or, hell, just tell me who you are. X-Files fans, watch it because it’s from the dazzlingly imaginative mind of Vince Gilligan. You know you’ve been waiting… Mad Men fans, watch it because it’s on AMC … and it’s every bit as brave and cool and sly. Malcolm In The Middle fans … Cranston’s back. And so are his underpants. Deadwood fans, Anna Gunn. No corset […]
