Our picks for the best commercials airing during Super Bowl XLV: 5. Doritos Pug Attack. Pugs are awesome. 4. NFL Best. Fans. Ever. Your old favorite TV show characters get NFL gear put onto them. 3. Motorola XZOOM Empower the People. Nice play by Motorola to turn Apple’s famous “1984” Super Bowl commercial against them in this spot. 2. Chrysler: Imported From Detroit. Who says Detroit can’t be luxurious? The Motor City gets some love in a beautifully crafted spot from Chrysler. 1. Volkswagen: The Force. Clever, funny, cute and Star Wars. Celebrity Super Bowl picks: Pitt or the Pack?

Many people get the impression that celebrities are so much different than us regular folk, but the reality is that most of them are very similar to us in terms of what they like to watch on TV — especially when it pertains to the Super Bowl. With that in mind, we decided to scour the Internet, and some of our celebrity interviews, to get a sampling of which team some actors, comedians, athletes, ad execs, magicians and supermodels are pulling for in Sunday’s game between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Jillian Michaels, fitness trainer, The Biggest Loser: […]

NFL fumbles decision on annual Pro Bowl game

When will the National Football League admit that its annual All-Star game has become a joke to the point where the name of the contest should appropriately be called the Good-But-Not-Great Bowl? Desperate to fill the void for diehard football fans looking for something to watch between the championship games and the Super Bowl, the NFL in its infinite wisdom decided to showcase its best players during the bye week (prior to last year, it ran the week following the big game). But what that did was eliminate all of the top players from what we presume are the best […]

2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships schedule on NBC and NBC Universal

Quick! Name the top U.S. women’s figure skater … No, I can’t either. It’s not like it used to be when Kristi Yamaguchi, Michelle Kwan and Sasha Cohen were household names. I’m told that’s Rachel Flatt we’ve got pictured here, but I couldn’t pick her out of a two-person lineup. Anyway, the only way for the new batch of unknown skaters to get some real recognition is by skating in major events in front of a national TV audience. NBC and Universal Sports have coverage of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships from Greensboro, N.C.,  Jan. 29-30. With there being no […]

2011 NFL Pro Bowl Jan. 30 on FOX

By Ryan Berenz After last year’s experiment of playing the AFC-NFC Pro Bowl at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium the week before Super Bowl XLIV, the NFL has decided to move the all-star spectacle back to Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. But while the site has changed, the date hasn’t. It will still be played the week before Super Bowl XLV, so don’t expect to see any players from the Green Bay Packers or Pittsburgh Steelers  in Honolulu. Top starters for the AFC are Philip Rivers, Arian Foster, Reggie Wayne, Ray Lewis and Darelle Revis. The NFC has Michael Vick, Michael Turner, […]
