Starz Will Have Exclusive Television Premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens

It’s unclear whether or not Starz having the word “star” in its name had any impact on this, but the box office-busting, enormously popular and generally well-reviewed seventh installment in the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will make its exclusive television premiere Saturday, Sept. 10, on all six Starz channels at 9pm ET/PT, with a repeat at 11:20pm ET/PT, the network announced today. Preacher: Man literally seeks God in AMC’s new comic-based saga

What would happen if God checked out of heaven and went on the lam? That’s exactly what transpires in AMC’s new Preacher. Based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s 1990s comic series, Preacher centers on Rev. Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper, Agent Carter), a world weary, cig smoking, smokin’ hot Texas padre who, in one strange moment at the pulpit, is possessed of a godlike power as God himself goes AWOL — leaving Jesse the only one who can track the big guy down and hold him responsible for what ensues. Along for the ride: Jesse’s ballsy ex Tulip (just try to take your eyes off […]

In Syfy’s Hunters, Gale Anne Hurd wants to make aliens scary again — and she succeeds

Among her many feature film and television credits, Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead) seems to return time and again to the sci-fi and horror genres, and especially to aliens. Hurd notably collaborated with James Cameron to bring to life the nightmarish alien queen of Aliens (1986), and she thinks it’s time to make aliens scary again. That’s part of her stated goal as an executive producer of Syfy’s new series Hunters. Inspired by Whitley Strieber’s novel Alien Hunter, the series, featuring Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck), follows a highly classified government organization known as the Exo-Terrorism Unit, which tracks and fights […]

Sharknado 4 casting announced

Syfy’s Sharknado original movie franchise has, for better or worse, become a summer tradition, especially for Twitter snarkers who like to take jabs at the increasingly outrageous scenarios and cameos in the films. Sharknado 4 (working title) is currently filming, and Syfy has announced initial casting for the followup. Ian Ziering and Tara Reid will return in their roles as Fin Shepard and April Wexler (apparently the film will reveal the outcome of the fan-voted #AprilLives or #AprilDies social campaign). David Hasselhoff, who first showed up in Sharknado 3, will also be back as Gil Shepard, and Ryan Newman will return as Claudia Shepard. New […]
