Where We Left Off: The Season 4 finale, “No Man’s Land,” saw Gotham City turned into a hellscape divided up by its criminal element and cut off from the rest of the world.
What To Expect: The 12-episode final season, dubbed “Legend of the Dark Knight,” will complete Bruce’s (David Mazouz) transformation into Batman, as he aids Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and the police in taking back the city. Trying to stake a claim on turf will be a host of new criminals, the most highly anticipated being Bane (Shane West).

Where We Left Off: Jimmy (Chris Geere) and Gretchen’s (Aya Cash) engagement is back on … for now.
What To Expect: How about the most epic Sunday Funday ever? The couple who’ve hated to love each other for four seasons will get 13 more episodes to try out the whole commitment thing. In the Season 5 premiere, “The Intransigence of Love,” Jimmy and Gretchen tell the story of their relationship to a prospective wedding planner, who will probably run screaming.

Where We Left Off: Abbi (Abbi Jacobson) and Ilana (Ilana Glazer) celebrated their “friendiversary” with a scavenger hunt through New York City, eventually winding up on the park bench where they cemented their friendship in 2011.
What To Expect: Comedy Central president Kent Alterman told IndieWire, “[Jacobson and Glazer] came to us and said, ‘We think it’s time to resolve the series, and we want to go out in style.’ They have really great ideas for what they’re trying to do in the final season.” Comedy Central’s not letting Glazer and Jacobson get away after Broad City. The network’s signed the pair to a first-look development deal that spreads across other Viacom-owned properties.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Returns: Jan. 25
Where We Left Off: The first half of Season 4 — which dropped way back in May — left us with a mysterious man spying on Kimmy (Ellie Kemper), Titus (Tituss Burgess), Lillian (Carol Kane) and Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski), and announcing that he’s “moving to Phase Two.”
What To Expect: The final six episodes will clear up who’s being watched and why. Is Sesame Street’s Mr. Frumpus stalking Titus? Is men’s rights activist Fran Dodd (Bobby Moynihan) digging for more dirt on Kimmy? The series, which was originally slated to air on NBC, became an almost universally loved surprise hit for Netflix, and it paved the way for more half-hour comedies on streaming services. And Kimmy might not be done, either: There’s discussion of a theatrical film after the series’ run ends.
