The Walking Dead

The new season opens 18 months after the end of the all-out war against the Saviors and will focus on how life has evolved in the years since the zombie apocalypse. “We’re exploring what happens when man-made structures start to crumble and when nature starts to become a bit of an obstacle,” explains the series’ new showrunner, Angela Kang. “We’re exploring how people deal with scarcity.” In addition to storylines involving horseback riding and farming, expect the season’s focus to be on star Andrew Lincoln, whose central character Rick Grimes is set to depart the series and will appear in a limited number of episodes.

DC Comics’ new streaming service, DC Universe, launched on Sept. 15 (Batman Day, appropriately), and the service’s first original series, Titans, kicks off today, with episodes released weekly. The live-action drama is based on the Teen Titans comics, with the cast led by Brenton Thwaites as Robin, Teagan Croft as Raven, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Minka Kelly as Dove, Alan Ritchson as Hawk and Anna Diop as Starfire. The series includes Greg Berlanti (The CW’s superhero shows) as an executive producer, and features a mature, darker tone.
