In The Sinner, you’ll know the who, how, when and where of a horrific murder. It’s the why that will keep you enthralled beyond Episode 1.
The first season surrounded the case of Cora Tannetti (Jessica Biel), a mother who was enjoying a day at the beach with her family until something snapped and she brutally stabbed a man to death. Season 2 plunges into another inexplicable slaying when a boy poisons his parents at a rural upstate New York motel.

Coincidentally, the crime is committed in the hometown of Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman), who had the misfortune of investigating Cora’s case. Ambrose is lured back to his roots to solve the puzzle, and he discovers dark secrets that the town would rather keep buried.
Carrie Coon joins the cast as Vera, a mysterious woman with an unknown connection to the crime. Coon’s husband, actor/playwright Tracy Letts, plays an old friend of Ambrose and the father of a local detective on the case. Biel keeps executive producer credit, but she won’t appear onscreen this season.
