Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin) directed this riveting, two-part (concluding tomorrow night) documentary look at the life of his friend and mentor Garry Shandling. When Shandling passed away in 2016, he was remembered as a top standup comic and star of two groundbreaking sitcoms. This film shows how complex the “real” Shandling was, via interviews with more than 40 of the comedian’s family members and friends, and through journal writings the self-proclaimed “spiritual warrior” kept for decades that reveal a brilliant mind and restless soul.

This new competition series, from executive producer John Cena, features kids competing in a variety of physical and paint-filled challenges designed with one goal in mind — to stay as clean as possible. After each game, a 360-degree scanner will measure each team’s mess to determine just how spotless they really are. The winning team will face The Gauntlet, a multiple-challenge obstacle course, where they can turn their cleanliness into cold hard cash.

The Voice: “The Battles, Part 3”

The Terror

AMC’s new drama series The Terror is based on Dan Simmons’ novel of the same name, which itself was inspired by the true story of the British Royal Navy’s doomed 1845 Franklin Expedition intended to discover the Northwest Passage through the Arctic. The Terror blends its historical narrative with horror and sci-fi, imagining what happened to the expeditioners as they battled the cold, starvation, each other, their own pasts — and possibly a large, bloodthirsty beast. Ciarán Hinds, Jared Harris, Tobias Menzies, Adam Nagaitis and Nive Nielsen star.

Into the Night: Portraits of Life and Death

The film concludes as friends say farewell to the comedian, and some of Shandling’s most personal and heartfelt letters and thoughts are shared.
