Jimmy Kimmel returns to host Hollywood’s biggest night for his second year in a row, as the 90th annual ceremony starts a half-hour earlier than usual. Last year’s ceremony is most remembered for the wrong Best Picture winner initially being named, but Kimmel is confident that won’t happen again, quipping that if it did, “literally everyone that works at ABC should be fired, right?” Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water leads the way with 13 nominations, including Best Picture in a field that features nine nominees this year.

Season 1 of FOX News Channel’s Scandalous wraps up with “The Show that Never Ends,” diving into the impeachment trial of former president Bill Clinton. Taking place in 1998 to present day, the program will spotlight United States senators as they fill the role of jurors in the first impeachment trial since President Andrew Johnson in 1868, and show the voting results in Clinton’s acquittal. Scandalous will also showcase the key Beltway figures who were present at the time to discuss how their lives were affected by the scandal, including Senator Lindsey Graham, former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott and former Senator Evan Bayh.

Unlike most TV crime dramas, which solve their mysteries within a tidy hour, this sprawling, intricate and absorbing 10-part docudrama, which premiered last week, takes its time and plays with time as it revisits the fatal 1990s shootings of rap superstars Tupac Shakur and Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace (Marcc Rose and Wavyy Jonez, both uncanny). The busy script also includes illuminating flashbacks that reveal a genuine friendship between the ill-fated rappers, despite their hailing from opposite and warring coasts. In tonight’s episode, Kading and Dupree brief the Biggie Smalls Task Force on the case’s popular theories.
