Martin Scorsese’s movie about the New York Mafia is considered by many to be one of the greatest gangster movies of all time. It is based on the life story of Henry Hill and features the Lufthansa heist at JFK airport where $6 million in cash and jewelry was stolen in 1978. The movie claims that Hill went clean in 1987, after having his identity changed as part of the witness protection program, but he didn’t — he was arrested for narcotics offenses in his later years. However, he ran a restaurant briefly and wrote a cookbook.
