Following the 2015 death of Freddie Gray while he was in police custody, Baltimore was a city on the edge. Both peaceful protests and destructive riots punctuated the immediate aftermath of Gray’s death, while the city waited to hear the fate of the six police officers involved in the incident — reflecting the deep divisions between authorities and the community, and underscoring the urgent need for reconciliation. The Wire’s Sonja Sohn directs this documentary, which follows the activists, police officers, community leaders and gang affiliates who struggle to hold Baltimore together, even as the homicide rate hits record levels.

Hard to believe it’s been over 10 years since that big dome came down over Springfield in 2007’s The Simpsons Movie. FXX airs the movie as a lead-in to an eight-episode stunt of Simpsons classics that include all-time favorites like “Cape Feare,” “Whacking Day,” “Homer Goes to College” and “Homer’s Barbershop Quartet.”

NCIS: “Ready or Not”

In A&E’s six-part series, civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump attempts to uncover what happened on September 7, 1996, the night the 25-year-old hip-hop star was gunned down at a busy Las Vegas intersection. Crump and his investigative team revisit the crime scene, talk to witnesses and test many theories.

Bull: “Thanksgiving”

Bull goes home for the holidays in an episode that follows each member of the Trial Analysis Corporation team to his or her respective Thanksgiving dinner. Well, every member except for boss Jason Bull (Michael Weatherly), who gets a new case just as he’s headed out the door: a boxer who recently won the biggest bout of his career, found the dead body of a local drug dealer in his apartment and is being charged with the guy’s murder. (Oh yeah, there’s also a chance he’s being set up by the mob.)
