Series host Jeff Probst reveals that once the game starts, niceties are quickly abandoned and the game turns cutthroat. “I think as Survivor evolves, people that play are realizing it’s OK to lie,” he says. “It’s a game of human poker, and lying is part of it. It used to be, ‘Oh, my God. You lied to me. How could you lie to me?’ And the person would say, ‘Because I’m trying to beat you.’ Now it’s, ‘When are they going to lie, and will I beat them to the lie?’ And I think that strategy is fun to watch.”
