If you think that you knew everything about the Unabomber, think again. The first seven episodes of Discovery’s gripping Manhunt: Unabomber have presented an intimate look into the mind of domestic terrorist Theodore Kaczynski, and the frantic race to find him and bring him to justice.
Each week, the series presents insight and information into the methods behind Kaczynski’s madness. The series also explains how FBI profiler Jim Fitzgerald (Sam Worthington) was drawn into an uneasy kinship and understanding with the domestic terrorist as a result of his work creating the Unabomber’s psychological profile.
In this exclusive clip from the Sept. 12 season finale, Ted (Paul Bettany) is blindsided by his attorney’s (Rebecca Henderson) attempt to present a defense of “not guilty by reason of Mental Defect” and he — well — blows up.
When he’s informed of her duty to try and save his life, Ted cries, “You’re not saving my life, Judy, you’re saving my body. And you’re saving my body by destroying my life’s work.”
After she lists the crimes charged against him, the response of Kaczynski’s attorney is equally perfect. “If you’re not mentally defective, I don’t know who is.”
Damn.
