Tennis: US Open, Early Rounds
ESPN & ESPN2, beginning at 1pm Live
The year’s last Grand Slam returns to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, N.Y., with US Open early rounds beginning today on ESPN and shifting to ESPN2 in the evening. Angelique Kerber is the reigning women’s singles champion. Men’s champion Stan Wawrinka ended his season due to injury. ESPN and ESPN2 combine to air the tournament through Sept. 10.

Sniper: Legacy/Sniper: Ghost Shooter

The final installment of Sniper double-feature Mondays presents Sniper: Legacy, in which a rogue assassin is taking out military leaders. Brandon (Chad Michael Collins) gets word that his father is one of them, and he soon realizes that his superior officers are using him as bait to track the killer. In Sniper: Ghost Shooter, elite snipers are fighting extremists eager to make a political statement in the Middle East.

Jesse’s (Dominic Cooper) pursuit of God is alienating Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun). Tulip gets advice about her relationship with Jesse, and Cassidy starts to doubt Denis (Ronald Guttman).

Dance Moms: “All Choked Up”

With Abby missing in action, Laurieann Gibson pushes the girls out of their comfort zones with professional-level choreography. Kalani and Brynn compete head-to-head with unique solos. The group routine focuses on a hot-button issue and provokes two jealous moms into having one of the craziest fights in Dance Moms history!

Face Off: Game Face: “Makeup to the Max”

The artists must create beautifully grotesque spider-human femme fatales, Mad Max: Fury Road-inspired warriors and classic monsters afflicted by a weakness that can kill them.

Chopped Grill Masters: “Finale Battle”

The tournament’s four champion grill masters grill masters face their finale battle for the $50,000 grand prize and a Napa Valley vacation. First, tiny, celebratory beers help kick off the first round of live-fire cooking, along with a beautiful rack of boar. As the competition heats up, s’mores and a delicate vegetable accompany a lean meat on the competitors’ entrée plates. A giant sweet surprise in the dessert basket ensures that the final plates will be colorful and unusual. The University of Louisville dance team, the Ladybirds, will debut the first half of their Hip Hop Nationals routine at this week’s game, including an extremely difficult new trick. Kayla and Taylor’s new friendship takes a turn when Taylor hears Kayla has been talking about her behind her back. Meanwhile, Ryleigh strives to get back into Todd’s good graces after questioning his coaching. Can the Ladybirds pull together to perform this challenging routine?

Vixen

This 2-hour animated adventure introduces DC Comics’ female crime fighter Vixen. Originally from Africa, Mari McCabe’s (voiced by Megalyn Echikunwoke) parents were killed by local greed, corruption, and wanton violence. But the orphaned Mari refuses to succumb to the terrors surrounding her. Inheriting her family’s Tantu Totem, Mari can access the powers of animals — anything from the super-strength of a gorilla to the speed of a cheetah. As Vixen, she fights valiantly to protect the world from the threats like those that claimed her family.

MasterChef: “A Mexican Tag Team Challenge/The Great Outdoors”
FOX, 8pm
In this week’s mystery box challenge, the top nine must create a dish using Nutella as the key ingredient. The challenge’s losers must pair up for a Mexican-themed tag-team challenge. Then, the top eight head to Big Bear Lake to cook fresh fish.

Salvation: “Coup de Grace”
CBS, 9pm
In the new episode “Coup de Grace,” Grace (Jennifer Finnigan) and Darius (Santiago Cabrera) seek answers from the president (guest star Tovah Feldshuh), while Harris (Ian Anthony Dale) discovers deadly secrets.

Marlon: “Project Kids”

College Football: Ohio State at Indiana

The Big Ten Conference has more games on Friday nights and in primetime this season, and fans won’t have to wait until October for conference rivals to line up against each other. This Week 1 matchup has the Ohio State Buckeyes at the Indiana Hoosiers at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.

Rancher, Farmer, Fisherman
Discovery Channel, 9pm
Based on Miriam Horn’s book, this documentary was an official selection of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. Narrated by Tom Brokaw and directed by Emmy winners Susan Froemke and John Hoffman, the film crosses the country to chronicle families who work the land and sea, and who are crossing political divides to find unexpected ways of protecting the natural resources vital to their livelihoods.

Despite being greeted with open hostility by inmates and little enthusiasm by prison staff, she is determined to clean up the place. Oscar nominee Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda), Eamonn Walker (Chicago Fire) and Idris Elba (in one of his first roles) are among the guest stars.

The USA Network series (currently airing Tuesdays) starring Ryan Phillippe was based on this 2007 film starring Mark Wahlberg as a former Marine Corps sniper who leaves the military after a mission goes bad. After he is reluctantly pressed back into service, Swagger (Wahlberg) is double-crossed again. With two bullets in him and the subject of a nationwide manhunt, Swagger begins his revenge, which will take down the most powerful people in the country. The film also stars Kate Mara, Danny Glover and Michael Peña.

College Football: Utah State at Wisconsin

College football’s kickoff weekend continues with this Friday night matchup in Madison, Wis., as the Utah State Aggies visit the Wisconsin Badgers on ESPN.

Hachi: A Dog’s Tale

Based on a true story, this film tells of the bond between a professor and a lost puppy he discovers on a train platform and eventually adopts. Stars Richard Gere, Joan Allen and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa.

American Masters: “Richard Linklater”
