Big Brother is back for Season 19 beginning tonight with a two-hour premiere. The series will have three weekly episodes: Thursdays beginning June 29, Sundays beginning July 2 and Wednesdays in its regular time period beginning July 5. Julie Chen returns as host.

“Are you not entertained?!” BBC America airs director Ridley Scott’s 2000 epic, winner of five Oscars including Best Picture and Best Actor (Russell Crowe). Crowe plays the great Roman general Maximus, who is betrayed and forced into slavery as a gladiator. Joaquin Phoenix and Connie Nielsen also star.

Battle of the Network Stars

New Series!
ABC is revamping its classic competition series while staying true to its ’70s and ’80s roots. Executive producer Will Staeger shares, “We are excited about tapping into America’s nostalgia while bringing a fresh take and big production values to this proven format.” While we can only hope for the resurgence of tube socks and short-shorts, we do know that each action-packed episode will feature celebrities competing against each other in events like swimming, track and field, the obstacle course and tug of war.

The Tunnel: Sabotage

Elise uncovers some disturbing facts about a passenger, while Karl makes a major breakthrough. The police trace their way to the door of the political cell Defence, but what will they find behind it?

The Gong Show
ABC, 10pm

The campiest, most retro sound you’ll hear this summer is from ABC’s rebooted version of The Gong Show. The series retains the spirit of the original, which aired from 1976 to 1980 and was a barely controlled circus of chaos. Unusual acts perform before a trio of judges and will either impress them or earn a failure-marking clang from a gigantic gong. Tonight’s installment includes an opera singer stuffing cake into her face, as well as dinosaurs, robots and flesh-eating ballerina zombies.

NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series Coke Zero 400

Monster Energy Cup stars Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Larson, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, Chase Elliott and others return to famed Daytona International Speedway for a race under the lights at the Coke Zero 400. It’s the final race at Daytona for Dale Earnhardt Jr., who will retire at season’s end.

The Essentials: “The Lady Eve”

Tina Fey brings her unique perspective as host to this month’s “Essentials” films, including tonight’s movie. This screwball comedy stars Henry Fonda as naive Charles Pike and Barbara Stanwyck as the beautiful con artist Jean Harrington. Harrington, along with her father (Charles Coburn) and his partner (Melville Cooper), are out to fleece the rich Mr. Pike, who is woman-shy and surrounded by ladies desperate for his attention. This film was selected for preservation by the National Film Registry as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
