History launches the eight-episode first season of its Navy SEAL Team Six action drama tonight, following a team of America’s elite warriors as they deal with dangerous missions overseas, and personal and family drama at home. Tonight’s episode begins in Afghanistan in 2014, where events during a SEAL mission have profound consequences for the entire team. Barry Sloane, Walton Goggins, Kyle Schmid, Juan Pablo Raba, Brianne Davis and Nadine Velazquez star.

NBA Basketball
ESPN, beginning at 8pm Live

The Milwaukee Bucks visit the Houston Rockets in the first game of ESPN’s NBA doubleheader. The second game has Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder heading to the Bay Area to take on former teammate Kevin Durant, now with the Golden State Warriors.

Kenneth (Cedric Yarbrough) and Maya (Minnie Driver) get sick, so Jimmy (John Ross Bowie) plays Mr. Mom while Dylan (Kyla Kenedy) helps JJ (Micah Fowler). When Jimmy proves a natural at Maya’s duties, he tries to hide it from her so she doesn’t feel even worse.

People’s Choice Awards 2017

CBS airs the People’s Choice Awards from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, honoring fans’ favorites from the year in entertainment. Among the top nominees are Kevin Hart, Drake, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Captain America: Civil War and Grey’s Anatomy. Ellen DeGeneres is nominated for three People’s Choice Awards.

black-ish: “Good Dre Hunting”

Bow (Tracee Ellis-Ross) convinces a begrudging Dre (Anthony Anderson) to try therapy to cope with his anger issues. Meanwhile, Johan (Daveed Diggs) steps in as the Johnson kids’ life coach.

U.S. Figure Skating Championships

The best figure skaters in America compete at the 2017 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships at Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo., for the national championship and a spot on the U.S. team for Worlds. NBCSN airs the pairs and ladies short programs tonight. NBC, NBCSN and Universal HD combine to televise the event live Jan. 19-22. NBC airs the Smucker’s Skating Spectacular exhibition Jan. 28.

Dinosaurs: Mysteries at the Museum

What happened to the dinosaurs still remains somewhat mysterious. Don Wildman travels to Utah and participates in a dig for newly found dinosaur bones, and then takes a road trip through the Midwest to see where they lived and what they left behind. He also challenges myths at the American Museum of Natural History about some of the most well-known dinosaurs that walked the Earth.

Zach Galifianakis returns as rodeo clown Chip Baskets for Season 2 of the FX comedy. Losing his wife and his job, Chip jumps on a train to get out of Bakersfield, but a gang of punks, the police and a sudden death drag him right back into the drama he tried to escape.
