If you can’t wait until February for the second season premiere of the space opera The Expanse, Syfy is delivering an early holiday gift. Starting today — and online only — catch a half-hour special, The Expanse: Expanded, which will dive into the series’ fantastic and fictional universe and offer a glimpse at Season 2.
The special is hosted by Adam Savage, editor in chief of and former co-host of MythBusters. Savage is a self-professed “superfan of The Expanse,” and shares, “I was very excited to spend time on set to see how the show is made and to talk to the people responsible for creating its immersive world: the costumes, the props, the sets, the special effects. The special-effects whiz teases, “The series’ attention to detail is just extraordinary. I can’t wait to share with viewers everything I learned.”
The special also features exclusive interviews with the series’ cast, crew and creators, who share behind-the-scenes secrets and never-before-seen content from the acclaimed first season. Joining them are scientists, astronauts, journalists and loyal viewers, who explain why The Expanse is one of the most realistic and compelling visions of the future on television today.
Additionally, the Expanse page on Syfy.com is debuting a full 360-degree tour of the set — led by Savage and producer and The Expanse book series co-author Daniel Abraham — which includes a look inside the multi-level Rocinante ship and its accompanying stages.
The Expanse: Expanded will also premiere on Syfy’s TV network on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 11pm ET/PT, 10pm CT and include an exclusive sneak peek from Season 2.
