It’s time to wrap up this season & find out who won RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 2! But first it’s time for approximately 40 minutes of filler, only to be followed by the wailing & gnashing of teeth from various fan camps around the world.
First up, Katya selected Roxxxy again to go home. Well duh. It would’ve been SWEEET if it had been Alaska, simply because she was such a brat. But yes, if we’re talking consistency, Alaska definitely should’ve stayed. And while I agree Roxxxy was really only in the bottom by default, she was still in the bottom. For like the 5th time. Time for girl to to home, even though she’s done really well this year. She done came for that redemption edit & she earned it.
Alaska meanwhile explains her breakdown by saying she’s never been in the bottom before & she needs to be in the finale. Needs to. NEEDS. TO. Ok brat.
The girls have to write a rap lyric for Ru’s song with special guest mentor AB Soto.
They also are a guest on RuPaul’s podcast, What’s the Tee? (Brought to you by SquareSpace. That’s SquareSpace.com. Wink!) and perform a number, this time live instead of in a RuPaul video. So it’s basically like every finale episode. Brought to you by selfieonastick.com.
In their What’s the Tee/tic tac lunch segment, Alaska and Detox are asked about RoLaskaToxxx. They all claim it’s not effect right now. They’re not practicing RoLaskaToxxxism. Really, Ru. Really. It’s not a thing. Nope, not at all. Never mind the Detox breakdown of “I can’t eliminate my best friend!” of last week. Nope, not happening.
Ru’s not buying it. She communicates her all-knowingness with her blank impassive stare that says “Go ahead, keep talking. Everything will turn out fine.” Alaska also gets asked about her temper tantrum. He says sorry. And we move on. Alaska’s rattled. Apparently that was the point.
Back in the workroom, Alaska is stewing about her interview & RoLaskaToxxx & how they’re going to cost her everything. She then has the revelation that in season 5 there were the 3 RoLaskaToxxx girls and a lovable weirdo, which is the situation they’re in now. In case you don’t remember, the lovable weirdo won. Detox tells her she needs to calm down and gives her the WTF look.
Alaska goes from a crying hissy fit to meditating. OMG you guys! I love you so much! But I have to win. Have to! Hold me.
Maybe she should’ve tried meditating first.
News flash, both Alaska & Katya want to win. News at 11. Or 10 for my time zone. Meanwhile Detox & Roxxxy are off somewhere saying “Me too! Me too!” To no avail. Probably.
Time for Choreography
Katya is using her flexibility & great attitude to her advantage in the choreography session.
RoLaskaToxxx is intimidated.
Time for the Mainstage
The song performance is very fun, but how long did this whole thing take to film? Alaska’s blue during the number, but back to her flesh tone for the final runway. Did they get a shower break? And why was Alaska blue? What’s with the Avatar football player?
Ru gets emotional & tells the girls how proud she is of all of them. Ru then declares that whatever happens, they will all be stars for ever. Um, really? Is that how stardom works?
They all have to do the “why do you deserve to win & not these other bitches.” Alaska’s got Drag Race catchphrases & shout outs to things that happened on just about every season on the show. You can hear the “I just did the assignment” in her delivery. The rest of the queens are on a spectrum of rehearsed vs emotional, so more emotion comes out as each girl speaks, with Roxxxy’s being the least rehearsed sounding.
There is a final lip sync for your legacy among the top 3, which means one girl is getting the chop from Ru right now. Roxxxy is finally eliminated, which while disappointing for her, I’m sure it wasn’t surprising. She did win a $10,000 tip. Hopefully she got to sneak around to watch the lip sync from the front.
See, this makes this season TOTALLY different from Season 5. In that season, Detox was the one who got cut right before the final 3. We’re in a totally different situation guys.
The final lip sync for your legacy is “If I Were Your Woman” since we can’t have 4 queens dancing around the teeny tiny stage. I assume. Or it’s just harder to really perform a slow ballad song.
Ok, so is Katya going to get shafted by a lip sync at the end? She’s the only queen left to not win a cash tip this season, so the lip syncs have not been kind to her even though she’s really good at them. Alaska smears her makeup. Is that the new wig removal? Just as tired Alaska. Detox is performing well, but I’d be surprised if she got the final crown.
So Who Won RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 2?
In the end, Ru crowns Alaska after all. I mean, yes, she was slaying but meh. Hopefully this will once again give Katya a boost cause she done got screwed.
What did you guys think? Anyone surprised? Sound off below!
