AMC debuts The Walking Dead catch up special this Sunday

The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere — and perhaps the most anticipated reveal in the AMC series’ history — is less than two weeks away. To tide fans over — and catch us up — the network will debut the two-hour retrospective The Walking Dead: The Journey So Far this Sunday, Oct. 16, at 9/8CT.

The all-new special features cast member past and present discussing their characters’ journeys over six harrowing seasons (or, you know, however long they lasted), punctuated by clips of the iconic series’ most pivotal moments and interviews with executive producers.

From the moment Rick came to in the hospital (recalled by Andrew Lincoln) to the excruciating first swing of Negan’s bat (broken down by Jeffery Dean Morgan and others in his terrorized lineup), the story of The Walking Dead is told by those who brought it to life on our screens and made the show a pop-culture phenomenon.

If you’ve never seen a moment of the Dead (not that we’re judging … OK, we’re judging), The Walking Dead: Journey So Far is the perfect chance to tune in and see what the buzz is about and the people and memorable moments that have made the AMC series so obsession-worthy.

If you haven’t missed a minute, the special serves as a fine reminder of everything the Grimes Gang has endured, only to find most of our favorite survivors on their knees before a mad man with a barbed-wire bat.

According to AMC, the first half of Season 7 “sees the group fractured, broken, bereaved and picking up the pieces while living under the thumb of oppression” as Negan convinces them to live by his rules in the aftermath
