Even after 18 years, Frankie Kazarian remains successful as one-half of the current Ring of Honor tag team champions. He and Christopher Daniels continue to compete at a high level against talent from all over the world.
The duo, known collectively as The Addiction, is gearing up to defend their titles against the Young Bucks and the Motor City Machine Guns in Ladder War Friday, September 30 at 9/8CT during All-Star Extravaganza VIII on pay-per-view. Kazarian took time out before this unique match for a little Q&A.
Do you remember the moment you and Christopher Daniels became friends?
We became friends shortly after meeting in 1998. We both started traveling together with TNA in the early days and have ever since.
What’s one thing Christopher Daniels would be shocked to know about you?
He would be shocked to know that I am aware he’s been slowly poisoning me for the last five years.
What’s your favorite activity to do on the road to pass the time?
Work out. Training is my first priority on the road always. If I ever have a lot of free time on the road, I enjoy catching a movie.
Lasting relationships in the wrestling business are rare, yet you and your wife Traci have been able to thrive. What’s the secret?
It’s because our relationship isn’t based on “the wrestling business.” It just happens. It’s something we both loved and was our job. And fortunately for me, that’s how we met. She understands the business, which is difficult. We live way outside the wrestling bubble. She is my best friend and my rock, and the best mommy in the world to our son.
Next year is a big milestone for you. What’s one thing you want to do before you turn 40?
Not die. Seriously, age-related questions I find asinine. I’m in the best shape of my life and can and will do whatever I set my mind to. It makes little difference if you have the proper positive mindset.
You are a known metal guy. What is your favorite Metallica song and why?
Couldn’t possibly pick just one favorite Metallica song. A few would be “The God That Failed,” “One,” “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” “Battery,” “Broken Beat & Scared,” “Fade to Black” and “Blackened,”
What are you most proud of about your wrestling career thus far?
I’m proud of my longevity. I’m proud that I’ve maintained a level of relevance for as long as I have. I’m proud of the reputation that I have. I continue to work very hard and maintain a positive attitude and to represent pro wrestling to the best of my ability.
Can you believe we live in a world where AJ Styles is the WWE World Champion?
Yes.
What are your thoughts on the landscape of Ring of Honor today?
ROH is my home, and it’s a great one. We have nothing but momentum going forward. I’ve never seen a company rally together and grow so much in such a short time. The future looks great.
What can fans expect for Ladder War if they haven’t seen one?
, Bucks and Guns …Ladder Wars. Enough said.
