MTV’s new docuseries takes an in-depth look at the justice system through the viewpoint of Ryan Ferguson, who spent 10 years in jail for a murder he didn’t commit. Ferguson is passionate in his resolve to help other innocent people who have been wrongfully convicted. He and co-investigator Eva Nagao examine three high-stakes cases of inmates who claim they are innocent.

Rio Olympics: Women’s Golf, First Round

Sixty of the world’s top female golfers compete in the Rio Games’ women’s golf tournament with first-round action today. Golf Channel airs all four rounds of the tournament live through Aug. 20.

NBC’s live primetime coverage of track and field finals features 2015 world champion Tianna Bartoletta and defending Olympic gold medalist Brittney Reese as U.S. contenders in the women’s long jump; first-time Olympian Tori Bowie, from the small town of Sandhill, Mississippi, in the women’s 200m; and a strong trio looking to put Team USA on the women’s 100m hurdles podium for a fifth consecutive Games. Elsewhere on the Rio track, two-time defending champion Usain Bolt runs his 200m semifinal heat and American Ashton Eaton concludes day one of the decathlon with one of his best events: the 400m. Also: the women’s beach volleyball final and qualifying-round coverage of the women’s platform diving event.

Penn & Teller: Fool Us: “Penn & Teller Snake Their Chances”

In this show, hosted by How I Met Your Mother’s Alyson Hannigan, talented magicians do their best to stump world-famous magicians Penn & Teller for the right to perform with the duo in Vegas. Tonight’s magicians: Paul Gertner, Matthew DiSero, Rokas and Elliot Zimet — whose magic often includes birds. We’re not sure what Penn & Teller are “snaking” their chances on, but we hope it’s not Zimet’s birds.

Hollywood Medium With Tyler Henry: “Jennifer Esposito, Whitney Port, Kris Jenner”

They say you can sleep when you’re dead. Well, don’t count on it — not while Tyler Henry’s around! The 20-year-old psychic star busily connects celebrities with the dearly departed.

Living as a Wall Street executive, Jack Ryan (Chris Pine) seems unassuming to his friends, but he has long been enlisted in the CIA. Tying in with NBC’s coverage of the Rio Olympic Games, this special standalone episode, according to executive producer Justin Spitzer, “takes place in the world of the show at some point last season before the walkout.” So don’t be surprised that Cheyenne (Nichole Bloom) is still pregnant, and that the group hasn’t had the big union discussion yet. What you will see: A Cloud 9 Olympics promotion gives Amy (America Ferrera) the chance to meet her childhood hero, gold medal-winning gymnast Missy Jones (special guest star Cecily Strong of Saturday Night Live), who proves to be a little too inspirational. Meanwhile, storewide “Olympic fever” causes Glenn (Mark McKinney) to have some difficulty balancing his extreme patriotism, makes Jonah (Ben Feldman) learn a secret about Mateo’s (Nico Santos) past and has Dina (Lauren Ash) striving to create a “closing ceremony” her colleagues will never forget.
