Along with patriotism, fireworks and picnics, one thing that has also become synonymous with Independence Day in America is Syfy’s Fourth of July Twilight Zone marathon, an annual airing of several episodes from Rod Serling’s legendary sci-fi anthology series. The network also runs this stunt on New Year’s Eve, and the length of each marathon seems to depend upon where the respective holidays fall during the week in a given year.

This year, Independence Day is on Monday, so Syfy is airing its 2016 Fourth of July Twilight Zone Marathon beginning late on Sunday, July 3, and running it all day Monday, July 4. Some fans may be disappointed that this year’s marathon is “only” about 28 hours, compared with some of the epic 40-plus-hour marathons Syfy has run in the past, but it still allows time to enjoy plenty of famous episodes.

Syfy’s 2016 Fourth of July Twilight Zone Marathon airs from July 3 at 11:30pm to July 5 at 4am.

  1. Thanks Syfy for continuing to show one if the most revered shows ever. I am thrilled every time I watch every episode. Thanks Mr. Seeking you are the epitome of genius. I thank you for all th memories of watching as a little girl.

  2. Time enough at last.
Is one of my face. My other two are It’s a Good Life, and Nightmare at 20,000 feet.
I’ve been watching the 4th of July marathon now for three years.

  3. So many episodes I love hard to pick a favorite.the little people .to serve man was really good.pitch for the angels.the after hours.the hunt.the one with burgess finally got to read then broke his glasses.the 5 characters.the fever.great man serling.great family Guy too.

  4. It looks like they are not showing every episode. WTF Syfi? I mean your lame id, SyFy…..

  5. WHY are they showing “Death’s Head Revisited” at 3:30 in the morning? For all of its brevity — or maybe BECAUSE of it — this was arguably the best attempt in TV history to come to grips with the legacy of the Holocaust (and only fifteen years after it ended!). The performances of Oscar Beregi and Joseph Schildkraut are incomparable, and the writing is just suggestive enough to hint at the immensity of the horror without getting obvious or preachy (as Serling sometimes did when dealing with serious topics). Show the good ones at reasonable hours, and save the stinkers like “Black Leather Jackets” for the early a.m.

    • I agree. Deaths Head is one of my faves, but not enough to stay up for it with work in the a.m.

  6. The New Years’ 2015-2016 was the best! I wish that syfy would have stick with the same format. I will still watch it.

    • The Twilight Zone has always been a ritual for me and my family to watch for nearly over twenty years. We will continually watching this series. Thank you.

  7. Most folks have to go to work on July 5th which doesn’t allow us to fully enjoy the marathon. I did like that they showed the entire series last new year’s. I got to see many episodes I never saw B4. Many of the rarely seen were good .

  8. They should jump on any opportunity to extend the twilight zone viewer holiday over a weekend. 11:30pm Sunday is not long enough. I did like that they showed the entire years last new year’s.

  9. I hope that they do release a movie, but it needs to be well done. I am 36 years, and this is my favorite tv show. I remember watching these with my mom and her telling me that she used to watch these on channel 8 on sunday nights with her dad in the late 50’s and early 60s

  10. HA! When i wrote my previous comment I didn’t even know they had a show called “Killjoys,” as I ONLY watch that channel for Twilight Zone. It figures they would have a show with that name. It totally suits them!

  11. It’s stupid to start it on Sunday night. And only 28 hours? We’re being cheated! I look forward to this every summer and New Year’s Eve and I won’t be able to stay up to watch the late night episodes due to work the next day. That’s part of the fun. Killjoys!!!

  12. ILove the Twilight Zone marathons and i thought it would have started on Sat. Why only28 hrs. I was looking forward to 40.I have seen all episodes but love watching it again and again on SyFy please Show entire series.

  13. Syfy channel got stupid over the years.twilight zone is the best.the rest of the garbage is just what it is.

  14. Still watch EVERY marathon twice a year even though I’ve seen EVERY episode since it first aired on 9/15/59. Mr. Serling was so ahead of his time. Still my favorite show of all times.

    • OMG, I am SO with you!! I’ve been watching Twilight Zone since I was a child in the early 60’s! ALWAYS WATCH,JUL 4 & NEWYEARS

My favorite is, “Little Girl Lost”

  15. They are cutting it short so that they can play more of their usual garbage. They do this every chance they get. This is why I bought the collection on DVD.
