Dead of Summer
Freeform, 9pm
Season Premiere!
Break out the s’mores, horror-flick fans, this one’s for you. Having twisted up fairy tales on Once Upon a Time, executive producers Edward Kitsis, Adam Horowitz and Ian B. Goldberg are now sticking it to classic tales of summer-camp terror in the teen drama Dead of Summer. The series, set in 1989, begins as the run-down Camp Stillwater prepares to reopen with a new squad of nubile staffers (including Ugly Betty vet Mark Indelicato and Amber Coney) who each have a skeleton or two in the closet. And while the scares are more supernatural, that doesn’t mean things aren’t about to get messy once the camp’s otherworldly attributes come bubbling to the surface. “It’s not going to be as gory as Saw,” Horowitz says, “but we still reserve the right to kill someone in a gruesome way.”
