Alison Sweeney Dishes Delish Deets for Murder She Baked: A Deadly Recipe

On Sunday, Alison Sweeney returns as Hannah Swenson in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ latest tasty mystery based on the best-selling books by Joanne Fluke, Murder She Baked: A Deadly Recipe. The series’ first three films, (and most of Fluke’s books) feature a delicious treat in the title, so I got a concerned that something was wrong at our culinary sleuth’s bake shop. “Don’t fret,” laughed Sweeney, “Hannah is always working hard in the bakery. This time it’s all about the fudge cupcakes!” Fudge cupcakes?!? Sweet.

Please excuse me while I wipe the drool off of my keyboard, and take a sneak peek at the film.

In the latest chocolate-y caper, Hannah’s life is in turmoil. Her brother-in-law Bill (Toby Levins) is locked a heated election against the town’s iron-fisted Sheriff, her pregnant sister (Lisa Durupt) is ready to pop, her meddlesome mom (Barbara Nevin) is driving her crazy …again, and Hannah has a frightening encounter with a car thief. It’s a lot to have on her mind, but fortunately, Hannah has the sweet release that comes from baking. But when Hannah discovers the dead body of Sheriff Grant — holding one of her homemade fudge cupcakes, things get fudging-crazy and Bill becomes the prime suspect in the murder.

Hannah is sets out to solve the crime and  prove Bill’s innocence; while handsome detective Mike Kingston (Cameron Mathison) opens a parallel investigation. Sweeney tells us, “Hannah finds it particularly sexy since she’s all about going out on her own looking for suspects; but you’ll have to tune in to see how it all plays out.” And while Hannah feels herself falling for Mike, she also finds herself with the support of a charming and encouraging dentist (Gabriel Hogan).

Oh Hannah, two men?!? You lucky lady!

Sweeney gushes, “this is my favorite Murder She Baked! The character developments and dynamics are so great and the crescendo between Team Norman and Team Mike is pretty epic.” Which hunk would you choose: Norman or Mike? Sound off below or go on Twitter and use #TeamNorman or #TeamMike.

She also reveals that in addition to more Murder She Baked movies, the actress and producer is busy elsewhere, teasing, “Stay tuned for new projects that I’ll be doing with Hallmark!” We were completely charmed by Sweeney’s Hallmark film, Love on the Air, so hopefully she’s got more great stuff in the works!

  1. Well i prefer Norman because he doesn’t try to be the boss of her ! I am fed up with romantic lead being the macho man who always ‘knows better’, we are in 2016 for pete’s sake !! Otherwise fun little serie movies.

  2. I am for Mike please!!! I love the everything about the movies, however, I don’t like what is going on with the two guys. Please only have Mike with her. He is perfect for her, and I think she likes him the most.
