CBS announces Fall 2016-17 new shows and primetime lineup

At its upfront presentation in New York City on Wednesday, CBS announced its new shows and lineup for the 2016-17 fall TV season. CBS is going bigger with comedies this season, adding three new multicamera comedies and creating two-hour comedy blocks on Mondays and Thursdays. Here’s a rundown of the 2016-17 TV season on CBS, followed by the primetime schedule:

NEW FALL COMEDIES
KEVIN CAN WAIT (Kevin James) A newly retired police officer faces tougher challenges at home with his wife and three kids than he ever did on the streets.
MAN WITH A PLAN (Matt LeBlanc) A contractor starts spending more time with his kids when his wife goes back to work and discovers the truth every parent eventually realizes: His little angels are maniacs.
THE GREAT INDOORS (Joel McHale) A renowned adventure reporter for an outdoor magazine becomes the desk-bound boss to a group of eager millennials in the publication’s digital edition.

NEW FALL DRAMAS
BULL (Michael Weatherly) Drama about Dr. Jason Bull, the founder of one of the most prolific trial consulting firms of all time.
MACGYVER (Lucas Till, George Eads) Action-adventure drama telling the origin story of the classic MacGuyver character.
PURE GENIUS (Dermot Mulroney, Augustus Prew) Medical drama about a Silicon Valley billionaire superstar who enlists the world’s best medical minds to work in his state-of-the-art hospital.

NEW MIDSEASON SHOWS
TRAINING DAY (Bill Paxton, Justin Cornwell) A crime drama that begins 15 years after the events of the successful feature film. A young, idealistic officer goes undercover to spy on a morally ambiguous LAPD detective.
DOUBT (Katherine Heigl, Steven Pasquale) An attorney begins to fall for her charismatic client accused of murdering his girlfriend.
HUNTED New one-hour alternative series where participants are challenged to go on the run as some of the world’s most highly skilled investigators and trackers pursue them in a nationwide manhunt.
