Full schedule of TV tributes to Prince

Music fans lost a legend on Thursday, April 21. Prince Rogers Nelson died in Minnesota at age 57. Over four decades, Prince earned 40 Billboard Hot 100 Hits and seven Grammy wins, a Golden Globe and an Oscar for Best Original Score for Purple Rain.

There are going to be a lot of tributes on TV for “The Purple One” this weekend. Below is a list of programming announced so far. Please check back for updates.

MONDAY, APRIL 25

Prince wrote, produced and performed  “The Song Of The Heart.” He also wrote “Kiss.” (’06, Adventure) Animated. Born without the ability to sing, a young emperor penguin expresses himself and hopes to attract a mate through his amazing dancing talent. Voices of Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Brittany Murphy, Hugh Jackman.

Slave Trade: How Prince Re-Made The Music Business  at 11pmET/8pmPT on AXS TV

Spanning Prince’s entire career — from his debut album For You in 1978, through the present day — Slave Trade takes viewers on a twisting journey, detailing Prince’s noted disputes with his then-label Warner Bros., as he fought to be paid more than contemporaries such as Madonna and Michael Jackson. The ongoing struggle gave birth to an artistic revolution, as Prince took his art into his own hands, cutting ties with the record label and re-branding himself with the iconic hieroglyph symbol. The comprehensive film also covers Prince’s embracing of the digital age, as well as the success of his 28th studio album Musicology, and his show-stopping Super Bowl performance in 2007.

SATURDAY, APRIL 30

2016 Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at 8pmET/PT on HBO
Prince’s life and music will be celebrated with footage of his 2004 induction to the Hall of Fame. Inductees this year include Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple, N.W.A and Steve Miller. The 2016 ceremony will replay on HBO and HBO2 multiple times in May.

  3. I was young ,when PRINCE was young,LOL and I Loved him then and love him now.Like he’s apart of my pass youth years,when new and unique,one of a kind,was the thing,in 1983,1984.PRINCE lives on in you,me,us all , IN THE WORLD

  4. Love and Peace to Prince Roger Nelson. My fav performance of my life time. He was a genius, one of a kind, the best. I loved his mysterious personality! I saw him once and I’ve never seen another performer who entertained like him. I was Totally satisfied, I was floating. His concert let nothing to be desired, the best of the best.
