Last week on Blindspot, Patterson (Ashley Johnson) seemed like she was going all kinds of crazy. That kind of behavior isn’t just worthy of a subplot, people. She was this week’s spotlight!

“Man’s Telepathic Loyal Lookouts” (which, thankfully, translates to “In Almost The Last Place You Look”) picked up with Patterson still at dinner, still by herself — unless you count David (Joe Dinicol), her ghost companion. As she wraps up David’s last New York Times crossword puzzle — the one with the latest tattoo clue — a yummy, chocolatey, way-too-teeny dessert arrives. “Your move” is written in chocolate on the plate. Plus, there’s a little topper that looks like a Flintstones chewable, but it’s actually a piece to one of the couple’s board games.

Speaking of picking up where things left off, Jane (Jaimie Alexander) is still with Oscar (Francois Arnaud), and they’re both completely naked. Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) and Allie (Trieste Kelly Dunn) are on another side of town, trying to get naked, when duty calls. Sarah (Jordana Spiro) tries to surprise Reade (Rob Brown) at his apartment (by not being naked), but he’s not having it.

Zapata is in the middle of a Pai gow (thanks Carl!) marathon, when the whole thing is interrupted by Weitz (Aaron Abrams). She tells him she doesn’t have any other information about Carter, but he says the investigation has been shifted to Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste). He says that everyone close to her ends up dead. He’s not wrong.

Meanwhile, Patterson almost dies while trying to break into David’s apartment (with his permission, of course). She fishes a little key out of the fireplace, which goes to a creepy automaton that reminded me of Fats from the 1978 horror flick, Magic. Okay, the two dummies didn’t look exactly alike, but the thing got stabby when she wound it up and I started having a few childhood flashbacks.

However, that dummy wasn’t just creepy, but was also the keeper of a hidden message. Underneath all of that stabbiness was the note, “I love you to the moon and back.” We didn’t even get the chance to let out a big “awwww,” because Patterson quickly realized that the whole thing was part of another clue.

The stabby holes, when held up to the light, showed an image of the constellation Andromeda. However, there was an extra star, which was apparently some sort of marker. When lined up on Jane’s body, it lead to the bull — a tattoo the FBI had already solved.

After some words with David (yes, he’s still here), she remembered that some of Jane’s tattoos have had multiple meanings. The adventure is still on!

Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Jane and Oscar were having a romantic evening of dinner, conversation and dancing — all in that garage they always meet up in. Reade came home to find an envelope at his door. Inside, there was a flip phone with a picture of Sarah talking to him earlier that evening. The phone rang and that warped voice was on the other end, informing Reade that Mayfair has been snooping around on her own — and they’re holding him responsible.

Patterson and David work through the night to come up with the name of the star Aldebaran, which also happens to be the name of a nearby antiques store. It’s now daytime, so the two swing by. Well, Patterson is swinging by, but no one can really see David, right?

Well, it turns out the place isn’t open, but the owner was willing to let Patterson come in and browse. The owner, Mark Waterman (David Aaron Baker), probably through he had an easy sale — or target. After a spot of tea, he lead Patterson to back room and got all Buffalo Bill on her. However, he didn’t really want her skin. Well, maybe he did. It’s pretty skin and he seemed pretty insane.

Of course, Patterson’s absence was noticed by everyone at the FBI. Zapata informed the crew that Patterson’s phone was dead, but noted that she had accessed the tattoo database the night before. Weller said that if they found the tattoo, they would find Patterson as well.

Meanwhile, Mark was seen freaking out on the phone to someone who obviously would understand the rantings of a lunatic. In the basement, Patterson scolded David for sending her there. See what happens when you listen to dead people?

However, Patterson managed to wiggle her way out of the ropes right as the rest of her team pulled up to the antique shop. Weller peeked in and spotted Patterson’s coat. Zapata picked the lock and they headed in. However, Patterson wasn’t in there. She was actually in Mark’s house!

Patterson got out of the basement, but not with her shoes. As if the snowy ground wasn’t shocking enough, Patterson quickly realized she was in the middle of nowhere.

At the store, Reade informed the group that Mark wasn’t really Mark. He was actually Owen Lyman, an ex-teacher who was accused of carving a constellation into one of his former’s students. He got out of the whole thing thanks to his brother, Patrick (David Alan Basche).

We then see the two brothers. Instead of talking sense into Owen, Patrick tells his brother, “This is the last time.” Oh boy. Patterson could probably take Mark/Owen, but his crazy brother, too? The brothers then see Patterson on the loose. Owen manages to tackle Patterson, but she gets away — after taking a nice little chunk out of his face with a piece of metal that she pulled off the basement door.

Just when it looks like Patterson is going to give up, she sees David. He’s there to help, but thankfully, Weller, Reade, Zapata, and Jane show up right after, too.

Weller finds Patrick and forces him to the ground. As he goes in with handcuffs, Patrick tries to take down Weller. Ha! That lasted all of five seconds. However, the scuffle brings Jane out into the open, right in front of Owen. He’s about to shoot her when Patterson clocks him with a log. Jane fires a shot anyway, killing Owen instantly. Not sure that was necessary, but I don’t think anyone will be questioning it. It turns out that Owen did kill his former student, in addition to 12 other women. Despite keeping mementos from all of his victims, he was never put away because Patrick kept bailing him out of trouble. Well, no one can bail Patrick out now, can they?

Mayfair informs the team that it wasn’t just about the murders, but a whole lot of corruption that was tied into Patrick’s political career.

The day’s events obviously triggered something in Reade. As soon as the meeting wraps up, he tells Mayfair that he lied about everything with the Carter investigation and mentions the threats. She says the footage is a dead-end, but pulls Reade off the case and says both he and Sarah will be protected. As he leaves her office, Zapata tries to get some info out of him, but he’s not talking. Smart guy!

Zapata runs into Weitz on the street. She tells him that if Mayfair goes down, she wants her to go down alone. She obviously wants to protect Reade, but can she protect herself? After all, could he be the guy from the security footage?

That night, Weller makes peace with his father over a family dinner and in front of Allie. Moments later, dad collapses in Weller’s apartment.

Jane meets up with Oscar, in order to discuss her recent flashback about the Taylor memorial service and why she would have been there. He says they were surveilling Weller.

Now, he needs Jane to tell Weller that she’s having memories — specifically ones about him. He hands her a bunch of old photos from when she and Weller were kids. She quickly changes the subject to the romantic evening the two shared in the garage. He says it was probably a mistake and she agrees. The two then kiss.

The episode ends with Patterson and David. She tries to apologize for everything that happened, but he’s not having any of it. He says he knows they loved each other, but she will also find someone else. He leaves and she says her goodbyes. Wait, so now she’s not crazy anymore??

Once again, Blindspot gave us a week that didn’t revolve around Jane. I can’t be mad about an episode that was all about Patterson, though. She was fantastic as the focus! I didn’t love her talking to a dead David, but I did enjoy the scavenger hunt and the outcome.

Meanwhile, who do we think is in the picture from the FBI footage? Is it Weitz or Oscar? Could it even be Weller? And if you’re Weitz, do you really want to be making a deal with Zapata? Look what happened to the last guy who did that (that would be Carter)! Let me know what you’re thinking, Blindspotters! See you next week!

Blindspot airs Monday nights at 10/9CT on NBC.
