The series spinoff of the Rush Hour film franchise comes to CBS on Thursday. In the comedic police procedural, a maverick LAPD detective is paired with a by-the-book detective from Hong Kong, and the mismatched partnership becomes one of L.A.’s most potent crime-fighting teams. Aimee Garcia (George Lopez, Dexter) plays Sgt. Didi Diaz, who attempts to keep the peace between the two, and she shares how she and her costars spend their time in between takes. “Page [Kennedy] and I will do Vine videos in between scenes. We just crack up. I’m doing pushups. Justin [Hires] claims he can do a hundred pushups a day. I have challenged that claim over and over again. Jon [Foo] and I will just start salsa dancing together and doing muay thai. I love it.” And when the actress answered our “5 Questions,” her high-energy charm gave us a rush.

1. If your TV carried only three shows or networks, what would they be?<
Fargo, Empire and … God, what other show do I love? It’s a tie— I’ll just go with Mr. Robot.

2. What are three things you have to have in your fridge or pantry?
Avocado, tuna and coconut water.

3. What’s a movie you can watch over and over again?
Forrest Gump; it’s just funny, and heartbreaking, and thought-provoking, and timeless.

4. Tell us about a time when you were starstruck.
The one time that I was starstruck — and had to work with someone — was Michael Keaton because all I could think about was Beetlejuice. At one point I was in between Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton and all I could think of was, “Oh my God, I’m in between Batman and the Commissioner!”

5. If you weren’t an actor, what would you be doing?
I’d be a National Geographic photographer. I would be taking pictures of whales in Alaska. I would be traveling to Botswana and taking pictures of meerkats. That’s what I would be doing.
