Blindspot heartthrob Sullivan Stapleton, who plays earnest FBI agent Kurt Weller, swears he doesn’t know much more than you do about why the show’s Jane Doe chose to have her memory erased and her body inked stem to stern, and then get packaged into a duffel bag earmarked for Weller’s employer.Nor is he the least bit sure if Jane is truly Weller’s childhood pal Taylor Shaw. And, yes, he is unraveling the mysteries of Daylight and Orion right along with the rest of us.
The 38-year-old Aussie likes that just fine.
“I don’t want to find out where we’re going,” Stapleton chuckles when pressed for intel on the back half of the NBC hit’s freshman season, which resumes Monday. “I deal with it week by week and case by case, just as the show goes. That’s the shining path: We get scripts for each ep and it’s like reading a great novel.”
So much for spoilers.
When we last saw Jane (Jaimie Alexander) and Weller, Oscar (François Arnaud) — the mystery man from Jane’s dreams — had materialized just in time to rescue her from duplicitous CIA Deputy Director Thomas Carter (Michael Gaston). And to show her a cellphone video she made for herself suggesting she is captain of her current fate and to trust Oscar with the rest. Series creator Martin Gero has said that because only Oscar “has the playbook,” Jane struggles with what — if anything — to share with her new comrades about the contents of the video, and how to handle her feelings for both men.
Don’t expect Weller to pine, says Stapleton. “Personally, I don’t think it bothers him that much,” he explains. “Jane’s a great friend, and where we are trying to sort out who she is and where she’s from, I think that [Oscar] helps things.”
Plus, Stapleton adds, the more Weller learns about Jane, the easier it may be to come to terms with his own past — and his relationship with his dying dad.
“Weller’s very focused at work on trying to solve right from wrong,” Stapleton explains. “He believes in who Jane is — but she’s also a case subject. It’s his job to help her find out who she is. So, I think that’s a bit easier than the broken relationship between Kurt and his father. And yet when we do explore his personal life and his family life, I like the fact that he is opening up to the audience to explain who he is, and to explore why he became an agent and why some things really do affect him — especially crimes involving children or kidnappings.”

Am a fun of Blind spot, Sullivan Stapleton is magnificent at what he does, I like the way he takes his work seriously. He’s really a heartthrob in blind spot and can only imagine the reality when not acting.
