Whitney Thore returns for new season of My Big Fat Fabulous Life

Whitney Thore returns to TLC for a second season of My Big Fat Fabulous Life tonight at 9pmET /8pmCT with two back-to-back episodes. The new 22-episode season finds Whitney heading back to the doctor’s office to deal with her pre-diabetic diagnosis, and ultimately looking to adjust her lifestyle (for real). At 380-pounds, Whitney tries to ride a bike for the first time in years, finish a 5k (you go girl!), and finds successes with her Big Girl Dance Class who perform at a Greensboro Grasshopper baseball game.

My Big Fat Fabulous Life returnsWhitney was cast into the media spotlight when a YouTube video she posted —“A Fat Girl Dancing” — generated millions of hits and social chatter. TLC was quick to recognize Whitney’s zest for life and upbeat attitude and cast her in her own docuseries My Big Fat Fabulous Life last January. But putting her life out in the public spotlight hasn’t come without criticism. People are mean to fat people. They judge often not understanding — just read some of the comments on blogs on the show. The once 130-pound dancer/prom queen gained over 200 pounds in just one year of college after being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It takes a confident woman to ignore the criticism and keep a positive attitude and she continues to fight the battle of shedding those LBs.

Whitney Thore of My Big Fat Fabulous LifeIf she’s going to be successful a lifestyle adjustment is needed, which means sticking to (like really sticking to) a strict diet and an intense exercise regiment. Press materials detail that this season marks a year of new beginnings for Whitney as she moves out from her parents’ home (it’s about time sister!) and in with Buddy (her male best friend, who is simply adorable. Hoping they connect.). Cameras will capture the two working together as new roommates. Whitney also will start dating again, something she hasn’t done in ages. Of course, Babs (Whitney’s mom) is going to have her views on the subject. We’re told that Whitney has some success in finding a love interest this season, we just don’t know with who. The question press materials left us with: Is the pressure of leaving her parents’ home, finding a new love life and growing her dance class business too much to not indulge? Stay strong lady!
