The ever-popular Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will have a new television home for the first time in more than 30 years starting in 2017, when coverage of the prestigious event moves to Fox Sports 1 and Nat Geo Wild. The Westminster dog show has been broadcast by USA Network (and CNBC, in recent years) since 1984, and will end on those networks after the 2016 event. The new agreement with Fox Sports 1 and Nat Geo Wild is a 10-year worldwide, multi-platform rights agreement starting in 2017.
According to a Westminster Kennel Club release, starting in 2017, the Westminster dog show will air in primetime on Fox Sports 1 live from Madison Square Garden as the seven Best In Group selections are made on Monday and Tuesday night, leading up to Tuesday night’s Best In Show announcement. Nat Geo Wild and Fox Sports digital platforms provide additional coverage, carrying daytime breed judging. Nat Geo Wild will offer encore airings of each night’s programs.
