So folks, here it is, the final episode of the season. Some loose ends are tied up but the door gets kicked wide open at the end.

We pick up exactly where we left off last week with Nick bellowing NOOOO! after being presented with his mother’s head in a box by Kenneth and the Goon Squad. Nick is nearly catatonic with grief and rage until Trubel, realizing that they are all in some deep, deep, well, trouble, assumes that after her run in with the Hundjaeger, they’re likely caught in a trap, and it might be a really good idea to get out of the house.

Meanwhile Kenneth has officially declared the Grimm and his associates be exterminated. Juliette seems conflicted about the news.

Trubel and Hank manage to snap Nick out of his torpor just in time to get out the back door as the Goon Squad descends on the house. The three of them escape, hopping over the fence and down the back alley, as Rispoli and the Farat swarm the house.

Nick, of course, wants to go back and confront his mother’s killers but Hank and Trubel convince Nick that they’ve got bigger fish to fry – why waste their time on the soldiers when it’s the generals who must pay? Hank calls in backup (the ever dependable Wu) while Nick demands to know where the body that Trubel decapitated is. A plan is forming.

Kenneth and Juliette arrive at the mansion, “a rental” where they are to cool their heels before they flee with Diana, who seems oddly at ease with whole thing.

The Grimm team returns to Trubel’s fresh kill. Nick confirms what we already know: the Royals are on the hunt. Nick thinks Adalind might have some insight on the problem, Trubel is skeptical, but they need to know who they’re up against. Nick asks Trubel to retrieve the severed head from under the car where she kicked it, just as Wu pulls up. They give Wu the skinny on Nick’s Mom and Trubel nonchalantly tosses the head in the trunk of the squad car. Hank asks Nick if they’re going to call this in, but Nick insists they’re going to do this his way.

At the Spice Shop, Rosalee is filling Renard in on how they got rid of Jack. Renard, sore from being shot with a thousand rubber bullets, questions their methods. Monroe gives Renard a potion to ease his pain, but Renard is flummoxed by the fact that he’s just killed three women. Of course everyone knows that it wasn’t Renard, but there’s no way they can fob this off on spirit possession – which plays very well in Wesen circles, but not so much with the cops. They need a patsy.

At Bud’s, Adalind gives them the scoop on Kenneth and Rispoli and the Farat and the plot to do Nick in. Nick asks if she can still access the penthouse at the Hotel Deluxe so she can “drop something off.” Trubel is a bit confused by the willingness to work with Adalind until she finds out that Adalind is knocked up and the baby is Nick’s. They also quickly realize that the Royal Family is likely after more than just Nick and that his confidants, namely Rosalee and Monroe, are probably in danger. Trubel get’s the job of retrieving the couple and Nick asks Bud if he’s got any plastic wrap. Hmmm… What could that be for?

At the mansion, Kenneth introduces Juliette and Diana to King Fredrick, who is very pleased to see them both, especially Diana. The King lets Juliette know that he has a soft spot for Hexenbiests, and he is pleased to welcome her to the family. The jubilant mood is shattered when Kenneth gets a call from Rispoli who tells them that the Grimm has escaped their clutches. Juliette looks happy about the news, possibly because she still loves Nick, or she still has a chance to take him out herself. Kenneth promises to get the Grimm and the King politely warns him that failure is not an option.

Adalind’s key still works and she lets herself into the Royal Penthouse at the Hotel Deluxe. Lucky for everyone, nobody seems to be home. In the master bedroom, she places the plastic-wrapped severed head in the closet, closes the door, reopens it and lets out her best theatrical scream.

Bud and Trubel are making their way to Monroe’s house, Bud is wondering what’s to become of Adalind’s bundle of joy and the relationship between Nick and Juliette, when Trubel gets a call. Bud assumes it’s Nick, but it’s a woman’s voice on the phone, yet Trubel plays it as if she’s talking to Nick. The voice sounds very concerned. Who is this mystery woman?

Back at the precinct, Captain Renard is dealing with his own problem. The cops on the Ripper Murders are doing their due diligence, and have received word from a fourth victim, the girl that Hank, Nick and Wu rescued from Saucy Jack. Fortunately, she described her assailant as a tall, slender man with a British accent (hello, Kenneth). Since the murder was foiled by three men, one of whom was wearing a police uniform, the cops assume that the guy in uniform was a rent-a-cop since the suspect was never brought in.

Monroe and Rosalee are snuggled up at home, enjoying some giant glasses of wine, when Trubel and Bud bang on the door. Trubel fills the couple in on the head in the box and the Hundjaeger death squad. They offer up Bud’s place as a safe house since the Royals have no idea that he, or even Trubel, exists. Plus, he’s got plenty of toothbrushes. get it?

At the penthouse of the Hotel Deluxe, Nick’s plan is unfolding. The place is swarming with cops. Adalind’s scream attracted housekeeping, who attracted security who called the cops. Despite Nick, Hank and Adalind’s hammy performances, it’s clear that the ruse worked. APBs and arrest warrants are issued for the Royal Family, particularly Kenneth and Rispoli. Adalind expresses her regrets to Nick about the murder of his Mom, but it’s hard to tell if she’s sincere.

At the Royal Mansion (a rental, as Kenneth so succinctly put it) King Frederick is trying to butter Juliette up and bring her into the fold. She could be a tremendous asset, what with her magical powers and her deep hatred of Grimms. Juliette, for her part, is skeptical; after all, the king did put a hit out on Renard, his own son, and the Captain’s mother, which is not a very fatherly thing to do. King Fred assures her that it was the Queen’s idea, and when Juliette Hexenbitches out saying that the Queen better not mess with her, or else, the King assures her that the Queen is dead. He also admits that he loves Juliette’s feistiness.

At Police HQ, Hank is on the phone, locking down the airports, while Nick is fixating on Kenneth’s drivers license on his computer monitor. Nick puts the pieces together. The messy bed, and his out of place mouse pad cause him to realize that his problems aren’t just Kenneth, but that Juliette is responsible for setting his mother up to be murdered.

Outside the Hotel Deluxe, the cops swoop in as Kenneth arrives and take him into custody. Rispoli drives by at the same time to witness the arrest but chooses not to get involved. Kenneth is placed in the back of Wu’s car.

Kenneth quickly understands that Wu isn’t taking him to the police station, which is confirmed when Wu pulls into an abandoned industrial lot. Wu escorts the prisoner from the car and, when Kenneth tries to get lippy, Wu takes him down. Kenneth is released from his handcuffs and Wu drives away. Nick emerges from the shadows and Kenneth takes the opportunity to taunt Nick about how easy it was to kill his mother and to turn Juliette to the dark side. Kenneth tries to get the jump on Nick, but to no avail and the two duke it out, MMA style. Unfortunately for Kenneth, Nick is armed with nasty Grimm weapon, an ornate grieve with a retractable blade. Nick gets the advantage and plunges the blade into Kenneth’s neck in honor of Nick’s dead mother. Kenneth dies in bloody fashion.

Hank and Wu have been waiting patiently, well, Hank has, while Wu’s been fretting, when Nick comes out to meet them. Nick warns that they have to get the Royals before they skip town and that they should triangulate Juliette’s cell phone signal to do it. Hank suggests they should get Trubel to help them with the final assault.

Rosalee, Monroe, Adalind and Trubel are sitting around Bud’s table filling each other in on the situation. Trubel tells them about Nick’s mom’s head and they fill her in on the Juliette scene. Nick and Hank arrive to round up the posse. Wu calls in with the Royal’s location. Nick tells him thanks, but doesn’t want Wu to get involved. They leave Rosalee behind to take care of Bud and Adalind.

They arm up at the Spice Shop. Nick grabs the trusty crossbow, Trubel grabs a nasty looking club, Monroe doesn’t need anything. Nick concedes that if they run into any flack from Juliette, it’s open season.

On their way to the Royal’s rental mansion, the notice they’re being followed. They pull over and exit the car assuming it’s bad news. It is, but not for them, when Wu, in civilian clothes brandishing a shotgun, offers to join them.

The assault on the Royal compound goes relatively smoothly, as they take out the guards one by one, utilizing their various weapons. Inside, the King is playing blocks with Diana, who shows remarkable command of her powers by building an elaborate castle with the blocks using only her mind. Juliette looks on seeming to be both happy and disquieted by the show. The King gets the call that their BOAT is ready.

Outside, the crew assembles only to realize that there is a chopper coming for the King, Juliette and Diana. They take out more guards as Nick makes a break for the house, hoping to catch them, but once inside he quickly realizes that they must have given him the slip. The rest of the crew takes out the remaining guards as the King, Juliette and Diana make for the chopper, where Rispoli offers to go back in to head our guys off. Rispoli makes a valiant effort to kill Hank and Trubel, but comes up short. Hank jumps him and, after a brief tussle, tosses Rispoli over the bannister. Rispoly does not survive the fall. Nick, meanwhile, tries to reach the chopper, but he’s too late.

Back at Bud’s, the team admits they didn’t get Diana, but the situation is resolved to the point that everyone can go home. Adalind, not having a home, stays with Bud. Nick heads for home, while Hank heads off to deal with Renard.

At the station, Hank fills Renard in on the situation, which, while far from perfect, is at least a bit tidier. There’s nothing at the Royal Rental to link the team to the murders that are out of their jurisdiction besides. And, on the upside, Kenneth is dead. Renard is still fretting about needing a patsy to help clear his own name when Hank suggests that have the perfect fall guy: Kenneth.

In the chopper, the King is feeling pretty good about himself. He has Diana, his royal-blooded superchild, and Juliette, his new favorite Hexenbiest. Diana points out the window at something and when King Fred looks, he sees only his reflection, which turns into A SKULL. The Helicopter pilot unbuckles from his seat approaches the King, cuts him loose from his seatbelt then tosses the old man out of the chopper. The pilot removes his flight helmet to reveal that he’s the guy who helped Adalind and Diana escape from the Royals in Europe. Diana smiles.

Hank and Renard pay one last visit to Kenneth’s corpse, where Renard plants the scalpel on the body.

Nick returns home to an empty house save for the box with his mom’s head in it. Unfortunately, Juliette has been waiting. She claims that she had no idea that Kenneth was going to off Nick’s mom, but Nick, beyond caring what she has to say, grabs her by the throat and chokes Juliette. She tells him to kill her, but, ultimately, he can’t. She goes all snarky on him, “you can’t put me out of your misery,” and Woges. They throw down for a bit until Nick, laying on the ground, gives up. He’s done. Just as Juliette is about to administer the coup de grace, Trubel shoots her from behind with that trusty crossbow. Juliette goes down and Nick takes her into his arms, anguished over how this all played out, as Juliette bleeds out.

Outside, two black SUV’s roll up and a swarm of black-clad cops pour out of them rushing the house. Their leader, a woman in red, watches as they disperse. She’s agent Chavez and it looks like the FBI is coming for Nick.
