2015 Billboard Music Awards: Date, channel, performers, presenters

Ludacris and Chrissy Teigen (pictured) will host the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, which air live from Las Vegas Sunday, May 17, at 8pm ET on ABC.

Billboard Music Awards finalists are based on key fan interactions with music, with this year’s awards based on reporting period of March 10, 2014, through March 8, 2015.

Fan voting for the 2015 Billboard Chart Achievement Award will continue through the first hour of the show, ending at 9pm ET on May 17. To vote for finalists Taylor Swift, Iggy Azalea or Meghan Trainor, go to billboardmusicawards.com/vote, or the @OfficialBBMAs Twitter account.

Performing at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards will be Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Hozier, Imagine Dragons, Nick Jonas, Tori Kelly, Ed Sheeran, Van Halen in their first-ever performance on an awards show, Kanye West, along with special duet performances by “Empire” recording artists Jussie Smollett and Bryshere “Yazz” Gray with Estelle, Fall Out Boy featuring Wiz Khalifa, Little Big Town and Faith Hill performing “Girl Crush,” Nicki Minaj featuring David Guetta, Meghan Trainor featuring John Legend and Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth with Lindsey Stirling. The show will also include a special moment with Molly Ringwald introducing Simple Minds who will pay tribute to the 30th anniversary of “The Breakfast Club” with their iconic song “Don’t You (Forget About Me).” Pitbull and Chris Brown will perform their hit song “Fun,” while Fifth Harmony performs a special rendition of their song “Worth It.” Britney Spears will debut her new single, “Pretty Girls,” with Iggy Azalea.

The awards show will open with the world premiere of Taylor Swift’s new music video, “Bad Blood.” The never-before-seen video includes multiple starring roles played by a cast of Golden Globe winners, Emmy winners, Grammy winners, an Oscar nominee, blockbuster movie stars, as well as both new and iconic supermodels. “Bad Blood” is Swift’s fourth single off her smash album 1989.

Presenters at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards will include Lily Aldridge, Hannah Davis, Brett Eldredge, Florida Georgia Line, Khloe Kardashian & Kylie Jenner, Danica McKellar, Idina Menzel, Pentatonix, Tracee Ellis Ross, Prince Royce, Charli XCX, 50 Cent, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson from ABC’s “The Bachelorette,” Laverne Cox, Celine Dion, the cast of “Entourage” (Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara, Adrian Grenier), Taraji P. Henson, Miss America 2015 Kira Kazantsev, NE-YO, One Direction, Rita Ora, Ellen Pompeo and Molly Ringwald.

An hourlong special called Countdown to the 2015 Billboard Music Awards will air the night before, on Saturday, May 16, at 9pm ET on ABC. Hosted by “Good Morning America” co-anchor Lara Spencer, the program, includes interviews with Taylor Swift, John Legend and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz. Ed Sheeran and Hozier give rare access to cameras backstage during their tours. The show also takes a look back at some of the most memorable Billboard Music Award moments and explores the role of women in music and the emergence of women across all genres of the industry.
