Who’s Got A Hangover? Spring Break Week on Dancing With the Stars, Season 20, Episode 6

For some college students, Spring Break is a time of R&R after the stress of college midterms; but for others, it’s an annual right of passage where bikini and tank top-clad coeds make a host of ill-advised decisions that (hopefully) won’t follow them for the rest of their lives. Thankfully, this week’s theme on DWTS is a nod to the music and vibe of the beach, and not the drunken orgies that we see on MTV and the news. And in Dancing With The Stars, Season 20, Episode 6, in addition dancing to a spring break-inspired song, the remaining contestants will participate in the first team dance of the year before one celebrity and his or her professional partner are eliminated at the end of the episode.

Patti LaBelle & Artem Chigvintsev 1-855-234-5606
Dancing a quickstep to “Heat Wave” by Martha and the Vandellas
Neither Patti nor Artem have ever experienced spring break, so this week, Patti will be continuing the story of Hotel LaBelle. Don’t you adore her?!? I think ever week, she gets younger and younger! And even when she lost a shoe, she just kept dancing with a smile on her face! And after her dance, Patti got to shill her line of sauces and spices.
Len: No one will give us more fun and entertainment than you.
Julianne: Artem, you work with Patti’s strengths. It was great.
Bruno:: It’s happy hour, two for the price of one!
Carrie Ann: You are the most consistent performer. Tonight was extra special.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 8, Len: 7, Julianne: 7, Bruno: 7, total 29 out of 40.

Last week, Nastia and Derek melted hearts, but will their summery tango be as steamy?
Last week, Nastia and Derek melted hearts, but will their summery tango be as steamy?

Nastia Liukin & Derek Hough
1-855-234-5604
Dancing Tango to “Summer” by Calvin HarrisLast week, Nastia turned cranky Len Goodman into a pile of pudding when she and Derek danced Jazz to “Love is an Open Door” from Frozen. He said, “There was nothing frozen abut that. That was a warm hug on a cold night,” and earned the Olympic champion a 38 out of 40.
This week, Nastia and her tired body are tackling the tango. She’s soooo tired and Derek is a demanding teacher. But Nastia is used to tough coaches, her dad was her gymnastic coach her entire life.  Both Nastia and Derek are incredible athletes, they’re capable of speed and power that seem inhuman.
Julianne: I felt that there was a disconnect between your bodies.
Bruno: That’s how you attack a tango, my dear Nastia! You have almost unlimited power at your disposal.
Carrie Ann: Your quality of movement is up here, but instead of embracing your gymnastic background, embrace this new art form.
Len: in tango, you need to have low, slow and go. Tonight it was too fast.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 9, Len: 8, Julianne: 8, Bruno: 9, total 34 out of 40.

Willow Shields & Mark Ballas 1-855-234-5612
Dancing the salsa to “Tequila” by Xavier Cugat
Last week, Bruno told Willow to take a few ballet classes. But this week, she’s doing the salsa, so ballet won’t help her here. After last week’s episode, Willow was feeling some rib discomfort and learned that she has extra ribs in her body. How unusual! Once again mark created a bright, sunny dance that was absolutely delightful to watch. And she has the most enviable hair in the universe and such a genuine belly laugh.
Bruno: Be careful when you transfer your weight, don’t’ willow-wallow.
Carrie Ann: You wee sassy, but not sexy, because it’s spring break, let’s keep it g-rated.
Len: I liked the energy; it was full of fun and enjoyment.
Julianne: The under arms were fantastic, but keep your legs straight.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 9, Len: 8, Julianne: 8, Bruno: 9, total 34 out of 40.

Robert Herjavec & Kym Johnson 1-855-234-5609
Dancing the jive to “Surfin’ Safari” by The Beach Boys
Last week, Robert did not impress with his Mary Poppins-inspired quickstep, so hopefully this week he can regroup and regain his confidence. Last week’s low scores have really galvanized them as a team and they’re closer than ever (don’t you hope they end up together? I don’t even care if either is married; they’re sweet together)
Julianne: Kym never dumbs down the choreography for you; you are in it to win it.
Bruno: You were bouncing around with kicks and flicks like a frisky pony.
Carrie Ann: You didn’t miss a step, but they weren’t at the same time.
Len: I was picking up good vibrations. It is better than last week.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 7, Len: 7, Julianne: 7, Bruno: 7, total 28 out of 40.

Noah Galloway & Sharna Burgess 1-855-234-5605
Dancing a samba to “Waves” by Mr. Probz
This song is really interesting so I’ve been excited to see how Noah and Sharna imagine it as a samba. This dance is also going to be a challenge for Noah because samba’s slow movements really put a lot of strain on his prosthetic leg. Eew, Ray Chu Live really made this song sound terrible. If you want to hear it for real, the song is here. After the dance, Noah was really upset at the way they were portrayed in the pre-dance package.
Len: There was an incident, everything came to a complete stop for a few bars.
Julianne: Your hip action is fantastic.
Bruno: What you two do is so intuitive, it’s almost magnetic.
Carrie Ann: This is a tough week for you. Rumba is a hard dance.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 7, Len: 7, Julianne: 7, Bruno: 8, total 29 out of 40.

Rumer Willis & Valentin Chmerkovskiy 1-855-234-5610
Dancing jazz to “Bootylicious” by Destiny’s Child
Last week, Rumer made Ursula the sea with into the sex goddess of the sea. Her steamy samba made Bruno cry, “It feels good to be bad!” and earned her a 39 out of 40.
This week, Ru evokes Queen Bey and shakes her booty to “Bootylicious.” Who’s going to say the word “Jelly” first? Place your bets now. I vote Bruno. Rumer can shaker her body, she definitely knows how to move.
Julianne: My expectations for you are so high, that I’m underwhelmed.
Bruno: I disagree. It was raunchilicious! It was hot.
Carrie Ann: I think we took a wrong turn. It felt disjointed.
Len: I’m a cup of tea in a world of cappuccinos. This is a ballroom, not a bedroom.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 8, Len: 8, Julianne: 7, Bruno: 9, total 32 out of 40.

Chris Soules & Witney Carson 1-855-234-5602
Dancing a Viennese Waltz to “Hopelessly Devoted to You” by Olivia Newton-John
Last week, Chris danced to a song from one of Disney’s worst movies ever, but in Carrie Ann’s opinion, “I thought this was your best performance by a long shot!!” Julianne asked him to work on his musicality so of course, we knew we were going to see a montage of “Let’s Hear It For The Boy.” His dance was the least clunky I’ve seen him, and he actually looked like someone who is learning to dance, instead of someone who can’t dance.
Bruno: It’s a spring awakening for Chris!
Carrie Ann: The women in the audience were in love with you; you wooed us all.
Len: Once you got into hold…you’ve got to work on details.
Julianne: Shake my hand. You were so musical, I’m so proud of you.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 8, Len: 7, Julianne: 8, Bruno: 8, total 31 out of 40.

Last week, Riker was the captain of the ship, this week will he shiver our timbers?
Last week, Riker was the captain of the ship. This week, will he shiver our timbers?

Riker Lynch & Allison Holker
1-855-234-5608
Dancing a Samba to “Want To Want Me” By Jason Derulo
Last week, Riker ruled the high seas as Captain Jack Sparrow in a swashbuckling paso doble that Carrie Ann called, ”My favorite Paso ever!”
This week, they’re dancing to one of my favorite female rap songs and Allison’s chorography is going to crush it! Hold it for a second, Riker’s not going to dance to “Work It” by Missy Elliott, Riker and Allison felt uncomfortable with some of the song’s lyrics. Riker is a little more squeaky-clean than that song, so they requested a change. Hear the song here. Just to get up next to you.
Carrie Ann: You make me want to be a teeny bopper again, because I’m totally fan girling on you.
Len: You dance like I cook, chuck it all in, and hope for the best.
Julianne: I thought that was fantastic! Work on your promenade legs, you’re bowlegged.
Bruno: You managed to put some striking individual touches in that.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 10, Len: 8, Julianne: 9, Bruno: 10, total 37 out of 40.

After a break, it’s time for the dancers to break into teams for their first team dance of the season. But before we dance, we learn who is safe on #TeamYOLO. I want to vomit at the name #TeamYOLO, that is the worst name ever. Only d-bags use the phrase YOLO. Nastia & Derek and Willow Shields & Mark Ballas are safe. Robert Herjavec & Kym Johnson and Noah Galloway & Sharna Burgess are in jeopardy. Over on #TeamTrouble, captain Rumer Willis & Val Chmerkovskiy and Chris & Witney are safe, and Patti & Artem and Riker and Allison are in jeopardy.

YOLO, ya' know?
YOLO, ya’ know?

#TeamYOLO – dancing to “Wipeout” by The Surfaris
Nastia Liukin (team captain) / Derek Hough
Willow Shields / Mark Ballas
Robert Herjavec / Kym Johnson
Noah Galloway / Sharna Burgess
This week, Nastia and Derek’s cross-country travel is really apparent as they don’t really get to practice with their teams very much. Derek learns most of the dance via Facetime. But at the performance, it is adorable! I love the song Wipeout, it’s nostalgia set to music.
Len: That was no wipeout! From the first solo, to the last, it was tight, together and terrific.
Julianne: That was exactly what spring break is about; loved it!
Bruno: Fun and frolics in the tropics. You all shown in your individual vignettes.
Carrie Ann: You guys killed it, that’s the spring break I want to have.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 10, Len: 9, Julianne: 10, Bruno: 10, total 39 out of 40.

#TeamTrouble – dancing to “Trouble” by Iggy Azalea featuring Jennifer Hudson
Rumer Willis (team captain) / Valentin Chmerkovskiy
Riker Lynch / Allison Holker
Patti LaBelle / Artem Chigvintsev
Chris Soules / Witney Carson
#TeamTrouble is bringing intensity to the classroom. Each couple gets to have their own personality and clique to show off their dance personalities. And Thankfully, Chris abandoned his short during his dance.
Julianne: It was awesome, I loved it.
Bruno: That was so clever. Chris, tonight was your breakthrough night.
Carrie Ann: I thought Riker and Allison were the end, but then the boss came out, Miss Patti.
Len: Riker, You remind me of 1959.
Judges Scores: Carrie Ann: 10, Len: 9, Julianne: 10, Bruno: 10, total 39 out of 40.

A tie!! How diplomatic. Quickly, the four couples in jeopardy stand in the spotlights and Noah and Sharna are quickly announced safe. Riker and Allison are also safe. (No duh, they rock!) Sadly, Patti & Artem are going home this week. Patti LaBelle was such a delight to have on this season. We will miss her joy and exuberance.

Next week, two couples will be eliminated, so if you have a favorite couple, VOTE!
