After months of speculation, Bruce Jenner is expected to talk with veteran newswoman Diane Sawyer about his decision to transition from male to female, his future as a woman, his family members’ reactions to this chapter of his life and more in a special, two-hour edition of 20/20 airing Friday, April 24, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Described as “far-reaching,” Bruce Jenner: The Interview will feature the 1976 Olympic gold-medal decathlete — now 65 and divorced from Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner — revealing to 20/20‘s Sawyer why “my whole life has been getting me ready for this.”
ABC continues to unveil a series of teasers for Bruce Jenner: The Interview that reveal the flowing hair and more effeminate features that have been the stuff of rabid tabloid discussion and paparazzi photos for some time.
Dressed in casual gender-neutral attire, Jenner’s familiar voice remains unchanged.
Jenner is the biological father of Burton “Burt” Jenner and Cassandra Jenner Marino with first wife Chrystie Crownover, Brandon and Brody Jenner with second wife Linda Thompson and Kendall and Kylie Jenner with Kris, with whom he also has four famous step-kids, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Rob Kardashian.
“Those are the only ones I’m concerned with,” he tells Sawyer. “I can’t let myself hurt them.”
Bruce Jenner: The Interview premieres as a special edition of 20/20 on Friday, April 24 at 9pm ET/PT on ABC.
