Candace Cameron Bure Is Sleuthing Bookworm Aurora Teagarden in “A Bone To Pick.”

NOTE: A Bone to Pick was originally slated for January, but has been moved to April 4 and will premiere on both Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries at 9pm.

Aurora Teagarden Hallmark Movies & Mysteries adds a new title to its stable of fun and thrilling movies with the Aurora Teagarden mysteries, based on the series from best-selling author Charlaine Harris.

Dancing With the Stars alum and former Full House star Candace Cameron Bure fills the gumshoes of Aurora “Roe” Teagarden, a bookish librarian with a love for mystery novels. She’s also an active member of the Real Murders Club, whose members study famous unsolved crimes. Aurora’s passion for the truth lands her in the center of the crime in A Bone to Pick — the first in the series of Aurora Teagarden films to air on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

In her first go-round as the petite gumshoe, Bure had a blast. “This was one of the most exciting movies that I’ve made,” she reveals. “I’ve never done a mystery movie, and working in that type of atmosphere and creating this story for the viewer to follow along and figure out along with me — whodunit — is super fun!”

Marilu Henner stars with Candace Cameron Bure in A Bone To Pick: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery.

In A Bone to Pick, Aurora inherits a fantastic house from a spinster acquaintance and finds a human skull hidden in a window seat. She deduces that this real-life clue is a mystery left for her to solve, so she sets out to find the identity of the skull and figure out which of her eccentric neighbors is a murderer. Five-time Golden Globe nominee Marilu Henner (Taxi) also stars in the film.

Harris isn’t new to having her works adapted for television; her Southern Vampire series featuring Sookie Stackhouse served as the basis for HBO’s sexy drama True Blood. And fans of Harris’ books know that the gothic Southern towns her stories inhabit become almost as vivid as the characters themselves, but in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries series, production moved for logistical reasons. Bure is quick to calm Harris’ legions of fans. “I think we’ve created a very unique little town that maybe could be anywhere in the country, but it definitely has its own look and feel and vibe that will get ya hooked,” she says. Transferring any book to screen is going to require tweaks and changes to make production possible. Even tweaks to Aurora herself were necessary, says Bure. “I might not physically look like her quite as much. I just wanted to keep the sense of who she is.”

Although she’s a rookie in the sleuthing genre, solving mysteries is near and dear to Bure’s heart. “I was a big fan of Murder, She Wrote when I was growing up,” she reveals. “I had dreamed of doing a new type of Murder, She Wrote, so the fact that this series came along is like a dream come true.”

    • The waterfalls is in Montour Falls, NY. It is in the finger lakes region. I was born there.

  1. I Googled it and she has been quoted saying it was filmed in Vancouver but there’s no Town location listed on IMDB so if you find the actual town you can edit and add it! Good luck with your search!
